Anyone had their sidewall damage on the trails? It has the DURAWALL technology to strengthen the sidewall despite being 2-ply. I wondering if that is just GY marketing or real mojo.

I am talking more about stock GY Adventure with Kevlar but would also be interested in those who upgraded to this tire. If upgrade, then P or LT?

It’s all marketing. Every manufacturer has a name for their sidewalls.

That said I didn’t have issues the short time I ran them.

The only effort one puts into these tires is removing them, selling them and getting better tires ASAP. These tires are designed for Chad to commute from Corona to Fullerton on the 91 going about 65 MPH and that's about it.

    False.
Fastest you can go on the 91 west is maybe 15 if you're lucky.

I understand that it is more highway-oriented tire...that's OK by me because i spend most of my time on the highway and sometimes off-road. But when i do off-road, it is mostly over rocky terrain...thus, sidewall strength is very important.

I have considered Defender but i fear that its sidewall may not be better than average Joe's highway tire. Thus, i am interested in the stock tire because it is highway AND has (possibly) strong sidewall.

There's nothing a whole lot better really. Everyone has their favorite but it's not like everything's so much better.

That's my biggest question......do you guys just throw these Goodyears away because they came as stock and everything stock must be bad(?)......or did you guys actually found fault with them? From everything that i have read about them, they are pretty darn decent. Low weight. Strong sidewall (seemingly). Quiet on road. The biggest complaint is that they may not last as long as other highway tires.

One was tread which was patched. The other was sidewall which had to be replaced. Both were rear tires.

    Ah...thanks guys!! @JoeCOVA, the sidewall one...what caused it? A simple rub against a curb/rock?

It was a metal chunk that was thrown from the front tire. The other was a decking screw.

    I’ve never punctured a tire off-roading.

To be fair I’ve never had a puncture before these tires...ever. Maybe bad luck, maybe bad tires. Idk

No, the biggest complaint is that they put street tires on a truck branded “off road”...

This is not something unique to Toyota, my Ford 150 came with something that looked like a car tire in the tread dept. They're doing it for MPG and noise reasons.
