Oh hell no man! Curious myself. I guess her and my other aunt went to Spain for the 3rd year in a row to continue the hike they are doing.

Most recent... went out for a 3 day detecting trip and really struggled to find anything decent, luckily found this on last hour of last day to make the trip a success. 1906 half dollar

Thanks. That Morgan your buddy dug is unreal. Can't imagine how someone could lose a chunk of silver that big, bet it sounded like a beer can!

Hey dan. I sent my aunt a text 2 days ago and waiting for her to get back to me. Im guessing she’s getting all of her business affairs all sorted out after being gone for awhile. Just didn’t want you to think I forgot about you. I might try to get ahold of my uncle who lives out in smith valley a shout and see if he knows anything about it. The guy who found it is a business associate of my uncles so they know eachother really well plus I think it was found somewhere out by where my uncle lives.

Right! It was a great find!
I like to imagine an old crusty miner dropped it while intoxicated or during rainy or super windy weather. But who knows...?

It's funny how we detect for hours and hours and dig nothing but trash, then BOOM, a 1906 Barber fifty cent jumps out of the ground!
It keeps us gonig back for more.

I imagine similar situations, mud / snow depending on where it was, combined with all the hustle and bustle, combined with hand tailored clothes, and getting on and off horses and then add in the long hours of hard work and subsequently the whiskey. Just wish we could know the whole story, but have to be thankful to find stuff like that. And your right, seems like all my good finds come RIGHT when I am least expecting.

Yep. Pretty crazy. Was about 10 feet in front of my front tire where I parked, found it walking back to truck for water.

Swung the coil last Friday and didn't find much. But my buddy found this little button. It is military with the eagle on it, perhaps 1860's or 1870's based on the history of the area. A neat find!

Found a civil war bridal rosette a few months back, Went back out to look for the other side. Was literally 2 feet from the other one i dug, as well as a little lead filled silver hand carved heart that looks like it was attached to bit somehow as well.

The bridal rosette, is that the part that has US on it? That is very cool!
A Google search for "bridle rosette civil war" brought up a bunch of neat pictures, including this one:
