    All depends on the ground below you !!! , if you're above solid bedrock you'll feel very hard jolts or movement . If your above deep area of loose soil or gravel you'll experience a rolling motion

    But yes a earthquake starts off with light shaking then builds in intensity . But all depends on the magnitude of the earthquake, you may not feel a magnitude 3 earthquake but as the intensity increases you'll feel it more
