For those of you who are moderate and up off road enthusiasts, I’m asking for some advice on lifts. Personally I prefer to buy an entire kit if possible because I’m honestly not sure of which individual parts to order anyway if that could save a little money. I’ve been reading and reading every chance I get on so many things and one item I’m interested in is a lift for a 2019 trd or. After watching countless videos of various lifts I honestly can’t figure out which one would be best so figured I’d go ahead and ask.

So here’s what I’m looking for if even such lift exists....

95%+ of my driving will be on road so definitely not interested in a lift that will make the truck feel like a 3/4 or 1 ton truck. Seems every lift has various perks to each but as mentioned I don’t know how to choose. I prefer a lift that will not void any warranty if that’s even possible. Also prefer a lift that’s still going to allow the truck to ride smooth as possibly on daily driving. The lift would be so much better if only a 3” lift, and an equal lift hopefully not leveling the truck since I still use my truck to tow and don’t want to lose the factory rake. I actually like the rake on a truck for looks as well as it’s intended purpose.

I ask all this also because it seems as if every kit I’ve viewed is $3,000+ and just not interested in spending that type of cash at the moment for what seems to be so minimal gain from a 3” lift. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated and if possible links to the recommended product if you have the time to share.

Thanks for everyone that took the time to read this!

Why lift if you are doing so much street driving? It will affect your MPGs.

Are you just wanting a different look?

Wanting to be able to off road without having to worry as much about damage to a $40k truck. Already found a guy to manufacture some sliders. Patiently searching for the right pricing on under carriage armor and likely front and rear bumpers. After watching videos of people ripping off their bumpers pretty sure it’s a great idea to swap to steel bumpers also but gotta start somewhere.

Budget isn’t set honestly. Surely refuse to pay $1,000 per inch of lift if that’s any inclination of budget. Was hoping to stay in the $1,000-1,500 range or lower if it’s possible to do under the above mentioned parameters.

There is more to those $3k lifts than just height. There is a significant performance difference between a $1k lift and a $3k lift.

For so much street driving do you plan to rock crawl? Most of the banged up trucks and ripped off bumpers are from rock crawling.

I’d like to stay away from extreme rock crawling for now that’s for sure. Saw a video of a guy going down a 3 or 4’ hill into a creek crossing. Ripped the passenger side of the bumper off. No thanks :)

Sounds like you just need an OME or Bilstein kit with a leaf pack...just like the 99% that lift their rig for light duty offroad

You probably don’t need skids, sliders or bumpers then either, unless you plan to rock crawl after you get them.

You don't need lift to avoid tearing stuff up.

You need care in where you drive and decent driving skills.

And suspension lift doesn't change the axle line clearance, tires do. Suspension lift does change departure/approach angles. But is that your challenge?

@HeadStrong Off-Road is a good place to start.
I like my 887, bilstein, Dakar leafs, uca’s...much better ride.
The 5160/6100 may be a nice setup, but was probably a long wait at the time I did mine..
A pic to see it after the lift..I am on 32’s in the pics..

Suspension lift will allow a taller tire and even a 3” lift with larger tires, seems as the full underneath armor would then equal out to stock clearance. However I’ll have piece of mind driving around off roading with just me and the family and not worry about what’s beneath the truck getting ready to rip part of the body into pieces.

Those suspension kits help more with high speed off roading than they do with general 4x4 driving.

Having low speed compression helps with body roll (which should have been minimized by the driver from the get go). But I know with my suspension I notice it the most above 60mph.

If I just wanted some height and a general better ride off road, I'd have gone bilstiens or OME and have been perfectly fine. I'm sure someone with those lifts can give a more fixed price on what those go for.

Does look nice from the pic. What is the expected price range of similar setup? I do know that I don’t want to spent 1,000 or more now and then turn around later and spend 2-3k more later on due to non satisfactory addons.

What this guy said. Look into the billy 6112 if you budget will allow. Comes with new coil unlike the 5100 and is what the pro basically used to come with. Friend just did this on his 4Runner. Depending on how high you go UCAs are optional

Even if you get bilstiens and upgrade down the line, you can keep the billies and slap those on when you sent your big name shocks out to be rebuilt when the time comes

I may be new to TW but by no means am I new to offroading, think hard about what you want to do offroad with your truck before you spend thousands on a lift kit. Truth is you will eventually either break, dent or scratch that beautiful truck of yours taking it offroad.

Dents and scratches will likely happen if I get too adventurous. That part I completely understand. However soon as I pull up to a certain trail or just some form off ‘extreme’ within the trail that looks damaging, I’ll likely back off of those. In the event I do decide to venture further into more risky situations, under carriage metal plates protecting the main components are crucial to me and worth the money. A scratch or dent somewhere can also be repaired. Frame damage, major lower body damage, that’s what I’m definitely into avoiding and just figured a lift would provide the option for a taller tire to allow for better clearance off ground and mainly better to protect the axles.

Yep. The 6112 and 5160’s are actually a very capable setup
