Bilstein 6112

I was just going off something I saw on headstrong’s website.



I had got the 47-234413 part # 6112’s for 3rd gens...maybe this is for a different part #?

There is 2 different models of 6112s. One for the 2nd gens 1-5 notch and one for the 3rd gens where it’s staggered for taco leans.

2nd gens will offer more lift if placed on 3rd gens

 

Gotcha. Damn, I guess I should have got the 2nd gen lift for my 3rd gen. I just wanted 2” of lift in front and 1.5” in rear so this should still be okay?

 

3rd gen 6112 can do 2” lift even more with 650coils if you replaced the stock ones.

Your in the wrong thread this is bilstein 6112 not 5100s lol, so imma suggest to buy 6112s up front, 5100 in the rears will be fine if you wanna save some money

But if you want 5100s, Just know that these don’t come with springs/coils in the link you sent. Popular option is buying OME 886, 887,or 888 coils to do the lifting so the 5100s aren’t preloaded so much, they’re set at 0.

They hit mine too, but only at full droop on the passenger's side.

 

where did you find the 5160s in stock?

 

The right sides are in stock, the left side that is out of stock is the exact same but it also comes with a brake extension bracket. I had a bracket spacer from a previous lift that I could reuse so I ordered two right side shocks off Amazon.

 

Also from others I heard you can do extended break lines as a workaround. Ordered mine that way.

 

im now thinking of getting the 6112s with extended rear 5100s since its taking the 5160s so long to be back in stock. but with that being said, headstrongs complete 6112/5160 combo with medium dakars is only $75 more than if i were to piece out the 6112/5100/medium dakars separately. anyone able to piece these parts out separately and save more than that?

 

I got within $100-200 parting out with the 6112/5160.
Should you go 6112/5100?Depends what you’re looking to do with them. Is it for looks mostly? Or do you need the extra performance of the 5160? Keep in mind the 5100s are essentially the 4600s, but extended. The valving and heat capacity of the 5160s are very different and were designed to be paired with the 6112s. I would either wait for availability or do the extended brake work around.

 

mostly just a weekender for camping and driving on fireroads. i wont be doing any crazy offroading. with that being said, i have 17x8 wheels with 33'' tires and JBA UCAs waiting for install as well. heres the pricing from headstrong with 6112/5100 on the left and 6112/5160 on the right

 

5100 should be a good option I think.

What is the shim kit for?

 

Sometimes lifting the truck introduces driveline vibrations, so the shims help adjust the angle of the differential close to factory settings. You'd need to measure the angle before and after to know what shim size you'll need.

 

@Dalegribble02 I have a 2006 DCLB 4x4, although a 2nd Gen also might differ slightly than yours (?!?). Not 100% on the small diference between a 2006 and a 2014.
That said, my front 6112 where kit # 46-241627 with the shock p/n 24-241618 and scoil spring E4-FD1-Z005B50. I do have JBA UCA so I cant verify the hitting issue on OEM UCA's.

 

I finally caved in and bought myself a new set off 6112. Hoping to install these today along with new UCA.

 

@Dalegribble02 the easy way to Visually identify if you have 6112's for 2nd Gen or 3rd gen is at the bottom of the shock casing where it is welded to the shaft. The 2nd gen shock housing is square at the bottom of the housing (like pic posted in above post) and the 3rd gen is conical.

 

That is the 600lb spring coil but the part number for that strut is the bilstein 6112 for the tundra not the tacoma.....
