Finally cracked open one of my Yamazaki 12s. Only had it once before, about 2 years ago at a restaurant in Hawaii, when I was just getting into whisky. It left such a favorable impression on me that I've been looking for it since. Only times I've seen it was crazy prices, until a few weeks ago. Snapped up a few bottles.

My recollection was spot on and it did not dissapoint! Damn good stuff. Sherry cask for sure, bourbon, bunch of other stuff I'm not good at describing but the big surprise was I swear I got a little bit of peat. But not the band aid / Iodine peat that I can't stand. It was like someone had a dial with a mark that says "Bandaids steeped in iodine" at the number 5 spot and set the dial for this one at number 3. Some intangible taste that was just the right amount. I think this one just took over as my favorite.

So all these bottles I forgot at a friends in Indiana...plus a different four roses SP, and a few other bottles. I was already into KY before he called and I wasn’t driving back to north side Indianapolis. Needless to say I hope it’s all there when I return sometime... :annoyed:

So I had to continue the hunt and rebuild what I could in KY when I received the bad news. Here’s what I returned to TX with.

Under 30 bucks, absolutely smooth and made by a Veteran owned company.

A guy at a local spirit shop messaged me today and they got 10 allocated to their shop. They had 4 left so he held one for me. I'll be sipping on it tonight!

Nothing too exciting... maybe a little rust
Well I suppose if you need to rebuild a whiskey supply there are worse places to do it than Kentucky

Snagged the last bottle of James E. Pepper Straight Rye that my store got yesterday. Never tried or heard of it before, but at a $29 price point I would absolutely recommend it. Punches above that mark IMO.
