from all the videos and guides I've seen you don't need to drill at all. the only drilling i've seen is for just securing the other end of the breather up in the tail light

I've seen those on Amazon just wasn't sure of the quality. How long you had it?

    Depending who you ask lol

According to Eugene he's had both and cooler is better. But he doesn't bring food besides mre
I have his old ARB. Works great for me.
Spot on with the no ice part.
I can fit more food in my 37qt vs 50L cooler since I don't need to waste space with ice.

If I wasn't getting it from Eugene I would've got the same Wynter one. Good bang for buck.

Dometic makes some nice ones too.

Have to consider though you might need a second battery. Or just a bigger starting battery

That one from Costco is nice but seems like more than needed.

Speaking of costco, i actually spoke to a fellow on reddit about the fridges on /r/vanlife. They paid around $600 Canadian maple syrup dollars for one that had a few scratches and a dent in the back. The company is stationed in Oakville- but you need to order from an outside source or you can try your luck calling the office for damaged models.

If you're talking bout the saddlebag,
    https://truck-hero.com/truck-luggage-saddlebag
It came with my tonneau cover so i figured i'd toss it on :notsure: don't take any word of it holding heavy stuff, the velcro in the back hardly holds a couple of empty bottles and spare garbage bags

The company does list a 60l and 80l model available as Pre-owned/Scratch and Dent. I sent them an email requesting pricing and availability for these models.

Could I just run the fridge on main battery and turn fridge off when stopped? Can the alternator keep up to power it as well?

you can run off stock 27F, nothing will happen. I’ve done that, left fridge ON for 2 days and truck started like always. ARB fridge shuts itself off when it feels it drains vehicle battery.

    dual battery for mallverlanders only...

I really don't want to add a permanent dual battery system. I wouldn't get full use of it.

Like Eugene said ARB can be set to turn off before battery gets too low.

I can leave mine 3 days on a 27 deep cycle aux battery before it will shut down from getting too low and that's on the medium setting.

I wouldn't turn it off when stopped as what's the point of fridge then? Food would spoil.

For trips where you're driving every day you're fine. It's only if you want to be able to leave it long without needing to worry.

That said you can also get a bigger battery then you don't need to worry.

    Again depending who you ask.
Eugene may say he did that. But he's leaving out that depleting a regular wet cell to that level kills a battery fast.

Not saying you need dual but deep cycle and possibly a bigger battery wouldn't hurt if you're worried about running dead or just killing the battery faster

@Tridet167 keep in mind my dual is set up to drop out if one battery drops below 12.3v I believe. My battery will disconnect if the compressor kicks in on the fridge because if the sudden draw but in the morning when I wake up the batteries are usually linked again as soon as the draw is off them. So overnight it isn't going to be much draw

@Tridet167 I can vouch for the awesomeness of the ARB 50quart fridge, I am very happy with mine.

It changed everything about camping for me. No problem with using it camping for a weekend on a single battery, More than a weekend id say you need to monitor what you are doing. I have had no issues yet.

Since it allows me to take my insulin, it really allows me to do anything now. :cookiemonster:

I am an ARB fanboy tbh, every single over priced item I have that is ARB is top quality. Twin compressor, 50Q fridge, Deluxe front bull bar.

I like ARB as well. Don't have any but they have good quality stuff and also set the standard for a lot of the stuff out there today.

You’ll be fine with a single battery. I have a larger group 94 AGM battery and let the fridge run from Friday night to sunday afternoon without turning truck on, it was probably low but no issues starting. Thats pretty much the longest i see it sitting for with it on and no issues and it was 25+ each day so theres that. If its 15ish out the fridge barely runs.

I left the fridge unplugged over night and in the morning everything was still cold aldo

I guess overnight it's generally cooler outside and no one is opening the fridge.
Where did you get yours? Amazon canada is showing them all out of stock.
