Shellshock’s 2019 TWAT (Trans Wisconsin Adventure Trail) trip

July 13 & 14. One week from today (July 6). If you already have plans, you need to cancel them because this is way more important.

We will depart at 0900 July 13 from the southern end (Prairie du Chien is my recommendation as the trail gets more fun starting around there but if there are objections I’ll reconsider the starting point), find some place to camp along the way and continue July 14th until late afternoon. Who knows how far we’ll make it, but there’s only one way to find out!

Depending on who’s coming from where or availability, we can accommodate link ups along the route for people who may be coming farther or only want to join for part of the trip (but you really should come for the whole thing)

Vehicle to vehicle communication will be HAM radio. This *technically* requires a license for transmission but you are welcome to receive or use in emergencies without a operator license from the FCC.

 

Am interested if you don't mind. I get off shift at 0700 though so I may try to meet up somewhere along the way. Will keep you posted though. What freq for comms?

 

Sounds good to me, I figure there will be a few linking up at various points along the route.

I don't have a freq picked out, if there's one you usually roll with we can hop on that

 

No opinion, most of my time on airwaves is on closed channels.

I'm a solid maybe at this point. @BEAR_KNIFE_FIGHT if we leave the Dells @ 0700 we could meet up near Richland Center about the time they get there

is 0900 set in stone? ... i have a 350 mile drive to there across Iowa, state patrol is not friendly for those going 90mph lol
I could probably head out Friday evening, Iowa is so exciting in the late hours that's when the bugs come out

Grand Junction Colorado to home. 16 Hours 8 minutes total travel time.
