If your current system uses R22, Now is the time for a complete new R410A system. More efficient, longer warranty, and R22 is stupid expensive.

Yeah we went through this back in 1995 with R12, which R22 replaced and R12 shot through the roof in price too. You could buy a 5 lb. bottle of it from the back of a van in a dark alley for a few years after, for a kings ransom LOL.

R12 (and R22) were phased out for the same reason they banned halon production the year before in 1994, hole in the ozone layer. Halon was the best fire suppression system onboard for Engineering and electronic equipment spaces that we had. Because of the County regulations here our data centers have overhead water sprinkler systems. And so does the IBM facility in town

currently in the middle of smoking pork belly burnt ends...looking Very promissing. Just pulled them after 2 hours at 225, and placed them in a pan with BS and Honey to sit in for the next 90 minutes...

Looking good, I’ll be firing up (well plugging in) my pooper in a couple hours for the same thing. I prepped them yesterday.

I have a 30# jug of R22 from 20 years ago when I did HVAC work. Guess I could sell it now and buy that big Kamado Joe I want with the proceeds

R12 was replaced with R134A, not R22. Now r134A is being replaced in vehicles with HFO1234yf, and R22 is already almost phased out with R410A. I suspect in a few years R410A will be replaced by who knows what. Someone (read DuPont and other companies) are making bank on this. You and I, not so much.

I have R12 and R22 in jugs like that. The R12 is pretty much worthless now, unless a system still runs it and has mineral oil in it. Not much still out there. I'll keep my R22 because my AC uses it. Just in case. If you have no need for the R22, sell it. One day it won't be worth what it is now.

super happy from start to finish on these burnt ends... chargriller/sidebox is mega... stayed at 240-250 degrees, and didnt use much lump charcoal/cherry wood(smoke). I'm getting comfortable with it; this is my first grill set-up that i call my own and use frequently.

2 hours at 240-250 on grill grates
2 hours in aluminum pan with BS and honey
tossed in hot sauce and bbq then back on the grates for 15 mins.

    melt in your mouth.
