Keep the chrome or black them out?

Hello forum. No offense intended if this question has been asked before, but I’m searching for fresh opinions. Just purchased a 19 DCOR4x4 (sold my 2004 Black PreRunner - purchased Dec 2003), and my new baby is white. It came with chrome decals and I’m adding the insert in the tailgate, just trying to decide if 1) I should match with chrome or 2) get black insert and blackout the rest of the badges?

make blackout your first project and have fun with it. pretty cheap modding there. welcome to TW.

 

I personally have no problem with a little bit of chrome but I think the Tacoma insert letters in chrome is a bit much for my taste. The black letters look good but I’ve noticed wax tends to accumulate around the nooks and crannies of the letters (mostly noticeable on colors other than white) so I’m personally OK without them. I’ve left my badges as it came and even added a bit to my tailgate. Ultimately do what pleases you the most.

All personal opinion of course so to each his own but while chrome has its place on certain vehicles, imho not on a Tacoma.

 

I bought the black off eBay. Much better than chrome but mines MGM. I'd think it be much better on White too.

 

By the way, I derped mine and it came out fine.

 

Start a vote, I vote for black them out. Not a big fan of chroma trucks. These went on a week after and slowest it’s getting a full black out. Just did bed decals and next is headlights

I'll never get tired of the white/black combo.

 

I love it. Actually going to do it to bike once it needs to be repainted.

 

Blacked out all chrome on my truck. Moved V6 back up on front fenders.

 

Nice, it's going to look great! And I have had the last 3 vehicles I've owned all white on black. Been on that cool-aid for over 10 years now.

 

Every truck I’ve owned up to my present QS has been all black, but I’ve always admired the B/W combo. Looks great on Jeeps too.

 

The everything has to be blacked look are the same people that leave every wall in their home white, buy sofas with built in cupholders and wear tap out shirts
