Got the garage cleaned up once again in preparation of hitting project Z hard this weekend. Removed the exhaust so I could get the rear end cleaned up without having it in the way. Hoping to have a majority of the engine bay put back together. :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, once I saw the blue in person I knew I had to have it. Something about it just really sets it off. The metallic flake doesn't look like it, but I would swear there's some red/purple mixed into it somehow because the red H badge on there pops instead of looking tacky, plus it looks awesome with that "3D" effect of carbon fiber.

The only external styling I am still on the fence about now is the chrome trim around the windows, but that's easy to get wrapped.

So I'm looking for a mini bike frame. I'm after something cheap as it will be a project for me and my 6yo. He wants a motorcycle something fierce so I think this will be a good start. Anyone got something collecting dust and rust?

Did a day trip up to Payson, went along FR 300 to Camp Verde and then up to Sedona for an early dinner (supper?) then back down to Phoenix.

Thinking I'm gonna bump up re-gear and suspension to higher priority as soon as the cap is paid off. Had to put the pedal to the floor to get the truck moving and the SR's stock suspension did not like soaking up the various pits and holes in the road.

While along FR 300 we came across a hot spot and hit it with what water we could and tried smothering it with dirt. Other motorists got involved to try to stamp it out asap.

Whelp, started at around 930 and just now sitting down to take a shit. Another almost 6 hours of labor on the Z. Got the turbos almost completely done, starter in, crank pulley on and torqued, and the big one, the transmission mount. I wish I wasn't so damn OCD about things being clean sometimes, I would save so much time. But it sure looks nice when it's all done!!

Let's talk GPS and Mapping trips

Currently I am using a Magellan TRX7 unit. It is basically a waterproof Android Tablet with a skin over the OS. I won this at the FJ summit but not sure If I would spend the $500+ on the unit. It works well once you figure it out but it takes a bit to get used to. The nice thing is that there are tons of trails and maps on the device locally but it's search function kinda sucks. They released a web interface not too long ago so you can map points online and send them to the unit via WiFi but its pretty buggy. Outside of that the unit is very accurate and the RAM Mount it comes with is fantastic.

Before I used to use Google Earth and upload the way points to a private map and save it to my phone. Currently I have all of the way points from the AZ Backcountry Adventures book and FunTreks book in my maps. I've been playing around with .GPX files in a text editor to see how they are written so I can easily create and modify the files.

What i everyone using to map out their Off-Road trips? I know a few of you have great handhelds from the discussion a few weeks back.

I have OnX Hunts and AllTrails app on my phone. I've had AllTrails for awhile and have used it quite a few times. I got the OnX Hunts subscription a few months ago and look at it regularly. It shows property boundaries/ owners, hunt units, weather, topo, satellite, and downloadable maps for off grid. I like it and will renew the subscription when it expires.

Coming up on my one year with OnX and I will be renewing as well. There are some things I would like to see improved, but I have found it to be very helpful, especially with the property boundaries. Was able to do some dove hunting thanks to OnX that I previously thought was off limits.

I rolled solo the others were late coming back from climbing Humphreys.

Cool area, but not the place for stock suspension. Not that I got stuck or couldn't do any of the route just boring drive going that slow over the whoops

I just looked at Doppler radar on my phone and there is zero activity over Maricopa county......but yes I did see the flash flood warning.

There is some rain up in Payson and near Flag.
