i recently discovered that both my headlights were out. When i traced the wiring back, the electricity stops at the controller. or whatever it is. (i dont even really know) my guess is its some kind of relay that came with the lights. when i pull the wiring out of the box, i discover that one of the pins has melted and snapped off. thats probably the problem, but is it possible just to buy a new controller?

Isn't the whole DDM kit about $50? Probably not even worth the trouble to purchase individual kit components given the cost of shipping will be $10-$15.

my HIDs wouldn't turn on after my camping trip a couple weekends ago. i was pissed cause i went through about a billion water holes and was sure somethin leaked and broke a bunch of shit. my relay was turning on/off (clicking) so i just unpluged the cable assembly that connects to the relay, connected it back together and bam, everything working. my guess was somethin corroded or something.

anyway, you can get a new relay, would be hard to find one that exactly fits your wire plug configuration but worth a shot!

call ddm...... but first, reconnect everything, check the fuse, CHECK THE GROUND WIRE. i recently had trouble with my kit form them, my passenger side is out. i am sending my harness in to them and they are going to test it and if it shows faulty,,,, which it will since i switched ballasts and bulbs from side to side and the passenger side stayed off, then they will send a new harness. they actually have really good customer service.

lol, that got away quickly. yea, it is a hella kit. i think you can get a kit to replace the parts somewhere, but my kits in chinese or something.

I dont know what exactly to call this box, but its between the stock headlight plug and the ballasts, i was kind of under the impression its just a relay so the lights know whether to be in high or low beams. its a black box maybe 3"x1.5" with a computer-esque plug on one side (eg, a white clip plug, with a bunch of different colored wires coming out, maybe 8 or 9 pins).
i think water probably got in it and caused a short leading to overheating and welding.

If you have slim ballasts then that extra box is the igniter. Ones with regular size ballasts have the igniter/ballast in same housing..........at least that's how it was explained to me. I have one of each type kit was how that came about.
