The only reason I want the scout is because of how familiar to my triple it feels. Just with gears and a bit more travel

I’m so torn on what to do, either sell my 27.5 remedy and get a 29” fuel or maybe Ripley...or keep my bike and get a hardtail. I miss having a fun hardtail

The top bike was a specialized steel road bike from the late 90’s.
The bottom bike was a steel rigid mountain bike from the 90’s.
These bikes were being thrown away, so I picked them up and gave them new life.
This thing is super fun to tinker with!

    Yeah.
I can't ride flats anymore, tried and it was totally sketchy. Shimano XT Trails on all my bikes. Only come in black.

Clips scare me. I’m to uncoordinated and being attached to the bike during a crash is one of the main reasons I don’t ride clips. I have been curious about them though. Just not enough to act on it.

I have never even messed with them to be honest. I do ride traps for my part time job (EMS bike team) and they are terrifying. That’s probably what steers me towards flats.

    Yeah.
It only took me a few rides to get used to clips. What messes me up now is when you are in a fast, sketchy section and moving around on the bike and you accidentally come unclipped, especially while in the air. Doesn't happen often, but is a surprise when it does.

I other news, SRAM Guide brakes suck. Only 120 miles or so on my Stache, and my rear brake started acting up on me yesterday. It started out feeling kind of stiff and lacking power, then it stopped returning to an open position and just dragged on the rotor. It still kinda worked, so I just kept riding using mostly front brake and leaning way back. I took it off when I got home and pushed the caliper pistons back, which apparently totally messed it up. Now the lever goes to the bar and it barely bites, still doesn't return fully. Now I see they have been recalled for this problem, but labor isn't covered. I prefer the feel of Shimano XT's anyway, so these POS things are going in the bin.
