Today was the biggest joke. NASCAR made themselves look stupid at so many turns.

BS is right. He was in 27th place when the wreck occurred. What a gift. Kurt Busch got ripped off.

I missed most of the race but followed as best I could on my phone. What other blunders did they make (besides screwing Kurt Busch again)?

It was SOOOOOOO dangerous for 1.5 hrs of lightning delay (8 miles from the track) that the crews sat in the open on the pit wall and Daniel Hemric and Bubba Wallace played football with the fans.... The whole lightning delay was Bullshit. If I paid for that I would be lynching somebody. They shpuld have waited the rain out since they kept delaying for lightning not at the track. Total bullshit pulled today. That wasnt a fucking race boys.

That was pretty weak, how do you delay for lightning and have drivers playing football with fans in the grandstands and in the infield. Should have at least let a 5 lap shootout to let all the BS sort itself out. Then to give the race to that team, what a joke. Daytona has lights and you could have pushed it to Monday. NASCAR wanted some BS headline where anyone can win. Just stupid.

My point exactly. It must not have been a safety issue with all that going on.

The only good part of the race was the 2 hitting the 4 in stage 2 then getting punted into the wall when the 4 returned the favor. See if Brad stands behind his "I'm not lifting" after today. The 17 was clearly over his head again so good to see him taken out. Frustration is boiling over in the Ford camp and the 3 should have a permanent yellow stripe on his rear bumper.

I interpreted it differently. I thought NASCAR was doing everything they could to go back green because there was no way they were gonna let a part-timer win a Cup race, no less at Daytona. Hats off to that team to play strategy and stay out. Impressive day for a rookie time with part-time drivers. Joe Garone (FRR) is running that show and he definitely knows what he's doing. Keep in mind those cars are most likely re-skinned JGR cars from Erik Jones' stint in the #77.

Agree to disagree on that one. This all works perfectly for Nascar. They are moving the race and this is the perfect example to back that up. To let a race end after a crash like that when you are half a lap from green, come on. 5 laps would have meant nothing. NASCAR likes the narrative where the little guy can win but it is not the case and I don't think running 27th is much in the way of strategy. Okay so they didn't pit but there are a lot of educated people that made a decision to because there was no reason that race was not going back green unless NASCAR decided they didn't want it to.

If the 500 can finish at 2AM because JP took out a jet dryer then they could have got that race in. NASCAR likes the feel good story and NBC was tired of it fucking up there schedule.

The 77 is not eligable for points in this series so it is a non issue. Pretty much just threw a race away.

Spire owns a charter which means it is now more valuable. They can milk that payout for two more seasons, then sell it for more than they paid for it.

My question is, if there is lightning you are supposed to stand around near metal right? Is that OSHA approved... Must not have been so dangerous then

I am not saying it is not good for the economics of that team. All I am stating is that that car is not running for points in the cup series. It is a part time team with a driver who declared to be in the points chase for another series. Discussing points for this race is a mute point.

Justin Haley just admitted this on Race hub and I quote "there was no way that any of us thought that it was possible for us to win". "No, I did not think I could win." I know he is excited and sometimes the chips just fall your way but I hate seeing races end this way. If he had led some laps it would be different but to move from 27th to1st because others pit is just plain BS.
