On another note, anyone interested in these? Went a different route and bought a prinsu rack instead. $130, bought it for $199 plus shipping, my loss. It’s literally still in the same, unopened packaging from the manufacturer.

 

About the virus embedded in the tune lol?

 

Unless they can prove the mod caused the problem, you're good to go. Google Magnusson Moss Act. That's the law that covers it. However, like @ilubtimmyhos said, they'll argue over it and try to deny you.

 

How you liking the Tacoma compared to the 4Runner?

People are nuts. The guy is making a killing and has cornered the tuning market for one of the most prolific automobiles out there. And he is only expanding to other makes and models. It’s funny people think it’s all a guise to get a Trojan out there. He’s simply protecting himself from IP theft.

The 4Runner is the wifey’s, but def liking the Tacoma way better than the 4runner.

HAHA. Agreed. I actually installed OVtune on my truck while home.... no issues.

And for a quick review, it's steep at $700 but the pedal response is much, much better. I accidentally spun my tires backing up my driveway in reverse by just tapping the gas. Downshifting is much less frequent but the improved throttle response is worth it. Steep for sure, but I'd say worth the money.

 

The base tunes are more manageable wrt spinning tires. 91 base is the sweet spot for me

 

It's not without good reason that it would bother someone. The Russian connection is what's most troubling. US cert and ICS cert have already released many different articles in relation.

And it is not necessarily all on him. The people who helped develop it, what safe gaurds are there to prove they dont have access to back doors?

In an increasingly cyber world, people have to make the decision for themselves. The only thing I personally would have liked to seen was the upfront availability of the information from OV tune, then people would have been aware before hand, to make the choice that best suits them. Some would care, some wouldnt.

I dont own OV tune, probably wont now, personally.

 

This was in 87 performance. I didn't try 91 or 93 and I will next time I am home. I eventually got used to the increased throttle response and quit spinning tires but it took a few days and a few times spinning out first.
