Vents on the rear & bottom of center console

Can anyone tell me what the three vents are for on the back of the center console? (08 Double Cab V-6) No speakers or air comes out, and nothing in the book that I could see.....THX

 

I'm not positive, but I think that is where the inverter (for the bed outlet) is located and that is for air flow to cool it.

Are you talking about these? I have no idea what they are for.

Those vents are for your water cooled muffler bearings. And that, of course, helps keep your blinker fluid the right temp.

Seriously, I think they are just for aesthetics, nothing more.

 

They are to allow air flow to the transmission well. Under heavy loads and mid range speeds, the heat from the engine and transmission can collect in this well. It passes through into the center console and shifter area. Without those vents, it is possible to damage some of the plastic components due to excessive heat buildup.

Think, Arizona desert (no offense Chris) in late July pulling a 5,500lb trailer and a full bed with 4 people in the cab going up hill and then parking it at the top.

Heat is Bad (most of the time).

Makes sense. In my old Neon on long trips I could really feel the heat coming from the opening for the hand break.

I bought some pre-wired blue LEDs and planed on putting a couple of them inside the vents to help light up the rear floorboard at night without having to use the overhead lights.
