I dont think anything is wrong with it. Some folks are just pricks

 

I’d make sure everything is welded together. Some are only bent with zero welds holding that bend true. I’d make sure and go with a company that makes them for abuse such as mobtown or call up SOS and have them reinforce their skids.

 

I've looked at a few skid manufacturers and they all have the option of aluminum/steel and non/reinforced for a markup. I guess I can always get Wes to weld in some reinforcements for me!

 

I can definitely do that for you. Wouldn’t take anytime at all, really.

 

I was looking at RCI, Demello, SOS, Mobtown, C4. Prices are all pretty much in the same ballpark, but the lead times is what I'm looking at. 4-6 weeks for RCI, longer for everyone else.

 

Sounds like I should really invest in a CNC plasma table...

I would surely go with Jerneyman skids to match my Jerneyman sliders! Keep it up Wes, your work is excellent and you definitely need some exposure and marketing in the off road community! If I did what you did, I wouldn't limit myself to Toyota. Hell, build them for everyone!

 

Once I get a more dedicated shop space, I intend on expanding for sure. Need room to keep all those project vehicles so I can do some longer term development like bumpers and whatnot. I’m trying not to get too big at the moment though and drown myself.

That's the key. Work at your own pace and workload. If it gets too overwhelming, the hobby is no longer fun. I wish you'd fab up some skid plates for me! I'd purchase them from you! Doesn't look to bad to make. Maybe a bigger brake press and that CNC/laser/plasma table you were talking about.

 

It’s mostly about keeping cost down for you guys and not making me go broke in the process. It just takes too long to hand cut everything re weld all the bend lines plus smooth it all out to look good. If I had a press brake big enough with a plasma table, all those welds would be gone except for the reinforcement ribbing and I could still make some money off of them.

 

A buddy of mine just bought a CNC plasma and looking to start making money. Just saying. If anyone has anything. 4x8 feet work surface

 

If he’s close to me, I’d outsource a bunch of stuff to him if the price is right.

Thanks! A lot of that was Brian, I can’t take credit for the design. You can see that the one I built for my own truck was a bit more simple to construct and not quite as aesthetically pleasing as his.

 

His looked really nice. I may get him to blue print one for the 3rd gens and hand that blue print off to you! lol

 

For sure. Hopefully by then I can have a computer do all my cutting for me.
