I'm not sure 1/4 is worth it. Just more weight and you'll bend that too.

I'll just run it for a few years until it doesn't fit anymore and then make another.

 

OP, what's your wheel BS/spacer combo?
And how much do you rub on the frame at full stuff/turn with the 34's?
I'm at 2.75 total BS with wheels/spacers and still rub the frame, not sure if tweaking my alignment will help or if I just have to live with it.

 

4.3" backspacing, but offset is a better measurement. That's -10mm. No spacers.

I'm not a fan of tire poke and can put up with some rubbing on the frame. Plus, it makes the clearance at the firewall better.

I rub the frame at full lock, but if I let off at all it doesn't rub. So I wouldn't consider that bad. Are you running any wider tires?

 

I'm running 285/75/17 on a 8.5W wheel, the BS is 4.75. They don't have offset listed on the site, but I'm running 2" spacers which is unacceptable and I want to drop down to a 1.25". I have SPC uppers and can move the wheels forward a bit more, but i don't know if that would actually help at all.

 

How do they fit without the spacers?

I didn't bother with a hammer, just went ahead and tubbed, so the frame is the only problem I have but it rubs really bad for some reason. I almost posted the question in your build. You're my Taco Messiah.

 

I only have a slight frame rub at full turn, same as @Squeaky Penguin.
You're wheels are the only difference, being 8.5 vs mine at 9. That extra 1/2" helps pull the edge of the tire back a bit.
That being said, i wonder if a 1" spacer might be better.

 

That's probably about 0mm offset. I think .75" or 1" spacers will put you in the sweet spot of balancing frame rub and firewall clearance.

I know at one point @TMFF mentioned notching the frame there for tire clearance. Not sure if anyone's ever done it. Seems like it would be pretty easy if you had a welder, as long as you could be sure how you box it back in would be strong enough.

 

I'm starting to think very seriously about notching it. I'll try screwing around with the SPC's first.

I was camping and wheeling all winter we have no off season like you guys. Just colder, but we can still wheel.
