Methinks you need to adjust your mileage expectations when running the engine while also not going anywhere. In order to have mileage, you have to accumulate miles.

On a fresh tank of gas, every bit of fuel that it's burning is going to be changing the MPG estimate. However, if you've driven 180 miles on a tank of gas, letting it idle for a while isn't going to budge the the MPG, because it's an average and it'll take a lot more to move that needle.

Meh, this doesn't even crack the top-10, including those two threads by the one-legged dipstick-impaired grammar troll.

#1 is this, and it's worth the full read.

You have a leak. But it will slowly seal itself as you drive and the mpg will start going back up. Like an SR71. Needs wind resistance to create the friction though, thus the reason sitting in driveway has the opposite effect.

Cars/trucks burn a average of 1 gallon of gas per half hour sitting idle.

If you want more miles per gallon
Always shift out of park for the best MPG's.

I thought that when you are sitting still and idling, Miles Per Gallon changes to Minutes Per Gallon.

Wow I didn’t mean to start a dumpster fire and run. The truck did not clock off MPGs when sitting at idle a week ago. It did today..that’s it. As for anyone who doesn’t understand why I sat in a running truck for 1/2 an hour hasn’t wanted to read and understand all this shit. image.jpg now it seems to be. Ok

Only 1 way to truly check mileage is fill up consistently, drive till almost empty refill and do the math. I do this every week as I am OCD and it lets me know if something is amiss. My mileage on my 2018 is pretty consistant

    No. You are being confusing.

If you idle the truck with a fresh tank, MPGs are going to drop quickly.

If you idle the truck on almost empty, they will move by about 0.1mpg, max.

    It is just the facts.
