Where do people get fishing attachments? Tube holders for rods and other things?
    Are most just homemade?

    Fly Fishing?....
RiverSmith makes some sweet crossbar mounted rod holders that would work with a roof rack or rear bed rack.

I have made a few homemade contraptions, but interesting to see what others have done.

Interested...Where does one purchase such a contraption and how does it attach to truck?
I noticed several vehicles outfitted like this on the beach at the OBX when we visited earlier this year.
    Thanks

They are known as rod racks, hitch basket, etc. Brand I have is CPI designs. Plenty of custom made ones out there as well. Keep an eye on Craigslist for them or check Cabelas/Bass Pro. Most tackle shops in the OBX will carry a few. All aluminum is key if you are going to be driving in the sand, no rust. Lighter weight too.

Mounted using a front mounted hitch receiver. I have the Curt model 31075. Easy to install. Here is a pic of my basket while fishing at the obx. Also one of the basket on the back of the truck in my driveway before I was able to install the hitch.

TW's in Nags Head has some in stock as well as the new Ocean's East tackle shop on the Manteo causeway. Most come ready to attach to a standard 2" receiver hitch which can be purchased separately. Most well known hitch companies make front specific hitches for most popular vehicles and can normally be found at a few places online. I had that setup on my Z71 with the front hitch but haven't pursued it with the Tacoma yet.

SeaPa and GatorAintBoutDat are correct concerning the rod racks. Personally, I do not like the Curt and some of the others as they exit lower than I like on the front. Although more expensive and more involved with the mounting, the hitches from CBI Offroad and Mobtown are more preferred.........This is from my experiences and others may have differing opinions. My hitch is a CBI, however, if I were to buy another, I would go Mobtown. The CBI hitch is great, but it took two shipments and several emails to make things happen.

Locking Ski racks on roof rack or bed bars is my preference.

But, i also just attached a $15 berkely 3 rod tube to the track inside the bed. Worked great. Drill the holes in the corners of the rack and you can angle the rods back.

Otherwise front bumper/front hitch setups are good. Not really a fan of the rear hitch setups since they limit access to putting down the tailgate.

    Check out portarod.com

I would buy it if my tonneau cover was not in the way.

Thanks guys for showing more stuff I now need that I didn't know I needed, LOL. :spending:
I do love surf fishing (a main reason for buying the truck) and most other forms of fishing. I've never tried fly fishing but have tons of respect for people that do it.

I built this out of PVC. Still haven't painted it yet, but it works great.
