Been on here for a week and I’m already getting this pulley and fuel rails. I’m either gonna go broke or trip over the pile of parts in the garage and die

I just have to work on the wifes car from time to time.... oil changes, air filter clean out..... makes it look like both cars need parts thrown at them.

That pulley looks ugly. Billet sounds better. But more importantly strength. How do we know a new design will be the correct balance of weight reduction and strong as well? Do we leave that decision in the hands of the fella designing it?

Just checking in here..

We just got back from a 5 day roadtrip up into Utah today, and are flying to Indiana Friday. Once I get back and settled, AND I get my little commuter truck back from the shop.. Im hoping I can either pull my pulley, or get one, (hopefully the latter) and take all the measurements needed via hand tools, our Optical Comparator, and CMM.

I do want to be transparent with ya'll tho.. Unfortunately, I cant put a timeline on anything, because I will be working on this as I can, permitting my current workload at the shop. I will be doing my best once things get back to normal to make some good progress on this!

@12TRDTacoma so did you get confirmation from Magnuson regarding a replacement pulley? If we can go that route, I say lets do that. Whatever the cost is, maybe we can split it, and like someone said, sell it and recover costs afterwards. Or, just eat it knowing thats the cost of R&D..

We leave that decision to the hands of the fella designing it, however, the choice designs I had in mind right now is between a multi hole pulley or a total redesign which will have the appearance of a 5 star blade rim. I'm thinking the multi hole one sounds like a better choice.

Balance will not be an issue. It's a pulley, not heart surgery. Lol.

Balance I'm sure will be better than what we have. In the long term less wear and tear on everything from vibrations. Just curious how light things can go with adequate strength.

I have in my hands currently a virgin untouched pulley (borrowed) donated to me for R&D purposes from @sf.larry I have taken some basic measurements as of right now and have them in hand ready to send over to you using my digital claipers at work. Unfortunately I was unable to get to overall diameter of it down to a digital micrometer measurement, rather a measurement via measure tape, as my calipers could not extend far enough. The diameter from rib to rib was also something I could not obtain due to the same issue with the calipers. I have many measurements ready for you though. I can take multi shot pictures of it as well and send them your way.

Heart surgery, like fast moving parts are either pass or epic fail. Hell, heart surgery is about the same price as a custom molded tacoma!

Oh trust me man. Strength will be plentiful. If you have ever cut through billet aluminum using any method of cutting you will find it is VERY hard to cut through let alone it be weak as it takes the full strength of a spinning belt at full RPM.

Dude, I bet these will be noticed via butt dyno for sure. With our output hp I'm guessing 15hp. Parasitic drag is a bitch. Lose that and things make the hp they always could have.

Do you have a ballpark estimate on this endeavor @12TRDTacoma ?
    99$?

right on man. hopefully that'll be enough. There are some measurements I still might need, but we'll see.

as far as design.. I think a hole pattern will be the best bet. best as in simplest and easiest to make.. as in cheaper in cost.

We can get a weight of the factory pulley, and compare to the new one. We'll see what we can do!

As me and the Maester @Roostfactor recently had a talk about. I wouldn't say we are "adding" 15 hp but more so freeing up 15 hp that is being wasted. Which is going to be awesome, I am stoked. Enjoy your time off @XPOTRPR, I think we (and more importantly our wallets) can agree a little wait time isn't going to kill anyone.

Dude, this pulley weighs A TON. Its got some good girth to it honestly and we can reduce a ton of that especially with a new design. I will post pictures of design here below.

The style below is my preferred of choice. The runner up is the second photo, less preferred due to the nature of it's design, as the first has more of an "OE" style look to it for us visual emission guys. (E.g. myself)
