There's been a really clean looking pre-Taco early 90s 4x4 parked on my street the past week but it has an fugly ~4" body lift on it, shame. Bumper hangs down way low on it

At least it's an easy fix, dropbracket lifts basically write off a truck in my book, like why bother even fixing it unless you plan to SAS.

I mean they lift up adequately with new t-bars (if you just crank the stock bars they become way too stiff), but the front on those just doesn't have a huge range of motion to begin with.

I just don't like seeing that much of the frame hanging below the body but I guess they really don't have the lift options that we do. Nothing wrong with a small body lift imo but when 90% or more of the frame sticks out underneath the body it just looks weird

My dad always though the ifs was too over engineered on his 86 4x4. Always thought it was way too stiff. The 92 isnt much better. But yes, hardly any flex.

It isnt cool until you can stick your foot between the frame and bed.

Only proper way to lift those trucks is to use a pre 86 solid axle setup. Or go longtravel and convert to coils.11_94a65fba-e1dd-47c9-908f-c1d5a5662113_530x.jpg

It's pretty basic for a t-bar setup but it is compact so it looks pretty beefy. I wouldn't really want to build on one. That's actually one of the biggest reasons I ended up with a 1st gen for college, I really wanted a second gen 4Runner. Still want one but it'll be a long while until I'm ready to take on another mini project and put on taco IFS

Just so beefy and low under there....hardly any clearance lol. Probably because those tires are pretty small

yea that's the only reason I'd do one but haven't really felt the need, got my clearance issues taken care of with a good alignment finally.

He always thought that since it was the 1st year for ifs on toyota trucks, they overbuilt it. But yes, not a lot of people build the later 2nd and 3rd gen pickups because their stock ifs is horrible offroad. But they make great candidates for sas'ing with pre 86 axles.

I repaired my filler neck with fiberglass mat and resin. Has held up for the last three or four years. YMMV
