I figured even if it doesn't work the greatest that I can sell it next spring for a couple hundred and make some money on it and put that towards a better one

I've been looking for one for awhile and just can't afford $400+ since my house is needing a roof and the central ac replaced. It's gonna be a learning time for me. I've used and electric one a few years ago, using a propane upright one now.

They spoil you as a heads up. really the difference in cheap vs expensive ones is temp variation due to controller and thickness of steel. My buddies cheaper one swings +/- 20-30* but I like those little variations from time to time. all part of the process.

and the other thing is, cheap ones come standard with wifi sometimes and the pricey ones don't?! go figure!:bananadead:

Here’s a hint. For a cheaper a/c unit don’t buy the one with the 10 yr warranty. That’s what’s costing so much. Get the 5/3/1 yr warranty. We replaced the entire unit inside and out installed for $3000.

I also paid $700 more than a shingle roof for a metal roof. There’s deals to be found you just have to know what to look for.

I've never had much luck with trying to cook over charcoal. Can't get it to burn very good at all, guess I need to study up on it some so I can use up the 3-4 bags I have lol

Haha this one doesn't have wifi. I'm used to having temp swings with my propane smoker now, seems every time I fire the thing up the blasted wind starts howling around the grill.

    Thanks for the heads up!
I haven't even started getting quotes yet. Currently have a split unit, it runs fine, except it can't keep up with ac or heat. Yesterday had it set on 72 and by evening the house was 76+ even with the thing running constantly. But my biggest problem with it is when its super humid it dumps water in the floor inside the house and has rotten the floor out :censored:. Figured the drain was clogged but it always running water out. Wanting to get rid of the spilt unit and go with a package (I think that's what its called) unit so everything is outside.

And I'm planning to go with a metal roof, just trying to find cheap and quality places

Few years back I spent $300 and went to Home Depot, bought 10 bags of Owens-Corning AttiCat blow in insulation. Got the machine for free with it and laid 26” of insulation in the attic. Then put on the metal roof. You could tell a huge difference in the house after just the insulation. You could feel a difference when they had half the roof on. I know it’s more money but it’s amazing how little things help.

If you don’t have central heat and air now it can be expensive to add all the duct work for a central system. Honestly I’d rather have the blower unit inside instead of a combined system outside.

Hell I'm wishing the temp probe I’m looking at had rf instead of WiFi. I don’t need to run the smoker from work. I just want 4 probes and a remote to look at. Take that WiFi off and lower the price!

See monitoring the pit temp is one of the reasons I want WiFi, I want to be able to set an upper and lower range and have it alert me if those are breached. I'm just too cheap to pay for these expensive ones. :)
