It's rough losing the special ones - been there. But before long another special one will come into your life and steal your heart.

Your story brings back so many memories of Buddy, with Buddy looking just like her too. My hat is off to you for adopting her late in life and showing her the love that she never got before passing on.

Just got back from a 9 day trip to PA. Lynx did good on the ride both ways (300 miles one way from CT). He's glad to be home though.

A little something every chance we get.
I don't want to, but Cuda will have to get his rest by this weekend. Long and tough life, but he isn't having any quality of life anymore. Hard as it is, after what we figure is near 18 years, it's time for his peace.
This is going to be hard to do.
    20190324_230023.jpg
He was always a survivor. It's hard to say he can't do it. Watching him during the day is almost hurtful. Then he has some moments, and SHIT.

Trust your gut...you are probably doing the right thing. I read somewhere that cats (and dogs) don't have any concept of lifespan, but they do feel it when their quality of life is poor. So, a good life is better than a long one. I'm sure you gave Cuda a great life, and now you have to help him move on. Very hard for sure, but it's doing right by your buddy.

I don't think that there is a harder decision to make in life. We had to make that decision 2 years ago. We still miss Milo to this day.His quality of life was suffering, and when we learned of the pain that he was enduring, we had to make that hard decision.
My eyes are swelling up as l type this. But we knew thst it was the right thing to do for him. We loved him that much.

So big already! I'm almost certain that I'd like to get a Maine Coon (or two) when ready. Though in the Seattle area, finding any available to adopt are few and far between. Almost seem exclusively available through breeders. So pretty and seem like they have a great personality. Big, fluffy, cuddly. Anything in particular to keep in mind for this breed? They'd likely be indoor.

They can be beasts. Every Maine Coon Cat I have known, has been indoor/outdoor cats.

My wife is convinced that her Tabby cat is a Maine Coon, because someone early on told her he was when he was a kitten. But he's just a Tabby that has similar markings. I can't convincer her otherwise though lol.

He's 8 years old and weighs 7lbs soaking wet, I try telling her one of the main characteristics of Maine Coons is their huge size but she won't hear it, lol.

That's just a long hair tabby. My folks had one that was about 6 1/2 pounds, while at the same time my grandparents had a beagle-sized Maine Coon.

It was like watching The Rock play basketball with Kevin Hart.
