Hm. Never heard of that company before or seen their products. Looks like a really cool system that's super modular for tons of different applications.

Really spendy though. Might as well just get a Recon rack and be done with it at that point imo.

Personally, i'm not a huge fan of racks that hold your bike in from the frame. But i'm sure that system does just fine since there are multiple customer testimonials claiming thousands of miles in the Australian outback without a scratch on their frames.

It may not even be a product one could get in the states. Just a company I’ve known of for a while from previous ‘high clearance/off-road rated’ rack research.

I share the same sentiment regarding rack/frame contact. But I can see from a pure off-roading perspective that holding the bike by the frame could be a more secure approach.

Gonna go look at it tonight. The more I think about it though, the more it makes much more sense than trying to rebuild my fattie.

I hate Clarks. So steep. And I always seem to ride it when it's hot for that added fun...

I usually go up Canyon Hollow and then down the full length of Rush. I haven't really ridden there in a few years, but now that I live right next to it...I am always there.

It is! I would love a fat bike but that is way down on my priority list. With the 3” tires the stache just smashes everything, which I’m sure feels similar to a fat bike. Have you ridden one yet? I remember when I demoed the original stache back in like 2012, it was the most fun bike I had ever ridden but I never ended up buying one. The plus stache is the same way, they hit this out of the park in my opinion, glad I didn’t miss out on the one I picked up haha

Just received and mounted my hitch receiver this morning. Here’s some photos of my 1up rack attached.

I'm currently putting together a build list for a 29+ bikepacking rig. The Stache would be an excellent option for me; but, unfortunately, they don't offer it in steel. :(

Whatever I end up with will have very similar geometry, though.

Why the steel requirement? Seems like the carbon to save the extra weight would be nice.

That said, I have a special place for a steel is real British hardtail in my heart.

Vassago if you can find a well-kept used one, or EskerCycles .

Esker took over the Hayduke design after Advocate was folded into them.

Surly krampus or I think the Surly ECR is designed for bikepacking. They are about $1500 built with a rigid fork which I think is a solid price. Trek also makes a bikepacking version of the stache, the trek 1120 but it is also aluminum.

Edit: krampus is $1550 new, ecr is $1900

Damnit... Surly always seems to elude me when I think of solid, dependable steel bikes. I've ridden plenty of them, but I guess none of them ever really stuck with me for a lasting impression. They are nukeproof frames, but... uninspiring? IDK, same QBP umbrella as Salsa and All-City.

Rode a buddy's Karate Monkey the other day. What a bike! Only downside is they don't come in that rad orange color any more. Glad they have a squish fork option now though!

I’ve always liked the idea of surly but have never ridden one. They are hard to find though. I was looking for a krampus but never found one before the stache

I'm trying to contain myself on this Stache. I did like my demo ride, and I have never heard anyone talk ill of said bike either.

Found out this thing has all of 123 miles on it too. I even saw the Strava logs to confirm it.

I love my Stache! I told myself when I bought it that I was going to ride it as hard as I could and if it broke, oh well I'll fix it. I'm 230lbs and I slam it and crash it and it's awesome. The stock Shimano M500 rear brakes suck but other than that it's been flawless. Oh and I bent a set of spindles on a pair of Raceface Atlas pedals (big guy probs) and in turn it ripped the threads out of the stock raceface crank arms. Easy fix though!

The one I am looking at is a '17 model so it comes with Guide Rs and a GX crankset. But yeah, your story is pretty in line with my 2 friends that have one.

Plus is is all black everything right now, so it is the perfect canvas for some color splashes.
