You got me inspired to do a trip. I'm looking at September 13th weekend. Head out and go find a camp/truck spot. Hike the South rim for a couple of days and then have a night in Terligua before we head home the next morning.

Have a good trip if you go! You can also head to LaJitas as its just down the road about 20 miles, but it's pretty dead in September. Not a lot of activity or events until later in the fall. If your lady isn't much of a camper, this is a swanky way to get her out that direction,

For sure! I've never stayed there because its too pricey, but I've had a drink there and its nice. Camping is my preference. You can always get a spot at the campground near Chisos Basin if you need access to restrooms/showers, or you can go full outback and find an old gravel road and head out for adventure (my preference).

I'm sure you know this, but if you go outback...take extra water and fuel with you. Its not a good place to get stranded, but its a beautiful place to get away.

    Also take extra whiskey :)

Chisos Basis is the main visitors center towards the highest point in the park. There is a lodge up there and a little education area, store, etc. Right below it is a campground. Its pretty plain-Jane, but it serves as a good base camp if you're doing any hiking in the mountains. Since we won't be truck camping, we'll probably just park at the visitor's center and do a 2 day hike to the South Rim (moderately difficult) and camp overnight on the trail, then come back, pack up and head to Terlingua for some music and libations at the Starlite.

Anyway, sorry to keep dropping info on you. Hope it helps

What do you think of that canvas topper my guy? I want one after checking out the one on Roberts truck, and a nearby neighbor with one on his Ram.

I actually really like it, I wanted a shell but finding one already painted in my color is worse then finding a needle in a hay stack. When we went to big bend it was nice to have.

They’re really convenient, and look way better than hard tops in my opinion. How do they hold up against water?

Drove through a bad rain storm when driving back as @Bigdaddy4760 was giving me updates, very little water actually got back there, not enough to worry about

Very nice. Is you’re the Bestop, or the Softtopper?
