What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Tossed together the start of a new skid to get me by this weekend.




Then took the truck out and about.

Didn't look at the rope hooks.

 

I used to shift like this a lot when I drove a '68 VW Beetle. Every once in a while I do it just to see if I still have the touch.

When my girls were learning to drive, we taught them in a manual (That's all my wife and I drive.). I showed them how to do it without the clutch, and they were tripping. They never got the hang of it.

 

i'm gonna have to learn how to do this, especially 1st to 2nd from a stoplight situation. what rpm area should it be in to throw it into 2nd?

 

To be honest, I really don't know. I just go by feel and sound. When you push/pull the gear shifter, you can feel where the sweet spot is. Once you find it, it'll go right into gear. No grinding. Nohard resistance.

Completed my first mod. Ran the electrical for the used camper shell we just bought. First anything at all that I have done to the truck really. Even though I’ve had it for 11 years. Was super anxious about it but figured it all out! Both the dome light and the break lights work like I want them too! Feels good man... feels real good.

 

I finally made my dream since I was 12years old come true.

 

First I was like, "cai, so what?"



Then I looked to the right.

 

New radiator cap

 

Good work man! Nothing like getting the ball rolling on realizing how much we really can do as long as we really want to. You're gonna be doing your own maintenence in no time, unless you already are.

 

Mine is on it's way. Started noticing a little pink wetness around rim of upper rad tank and thought wtf? It's already leaking?? I replaced it 3 years ago with a Denso. But it looks like it's just the rad cap.

 

Got these mounted up and balanced today. 285/76r16

 

Noice, what lift you gonna be running? You already decide?

 

Already have it in the garage ready to go. OME 883s, nitrochargers on all four corners, Dakar’s with AAL and SPC light racing UCAs

 

Where in NC are you? Plan on hitting up Uwharrie Natl Forest anytime soon? Be a good place to break all that in.

 

Got a good deal on an OEM trailer harness to replace my aftermarket Hopkins one.



Have to figure out where it plugs in. I know the module is usually mounted in the driver’s side cubby.

 

Hit a cool little milestone today.

 

Swapped to some manual folding mirrors I got off of Rockauto on my lunch break today.
