Too bad that place is almost always booked. We used to book it in January, and even then we would sometimes have to find another spot.

2019 TWAT Adventure - current itinerary

Here’s the current plan. We should arrive to camp at a decent time so we have time to setup / hang out / cook / etc before dark. I’ll get 2 sites reserved. Temps are currently forecasted to be 80 during the day and 57 at night so plan accordingly.

Myself and a few others plan to run the trail to completion Sunday but feel free to break off when desired to make it back home.

If you aren’t on the confirmed list and are planning to attend, please let me know so we have an accurate count for Saturday morning.

Due to work schedules and hopefully BKF joining us, we'll/I'll be waiting for the caravan at the intersection of 14 and School Rd. Just west of Richland Center.
@Shellshock could you confirm your TWAT route goes there?

So apparently the campgrounds change from reservations to walkup once you are within 3 days... weird.

Looks like there are still 8 sites available at Spearhead point. Eastwood, right across from Spearhead has 7 sites (all of them).

depends on how far over the edge you'll be by the time you have a chance to change it again. My trucks have 10k oil changes so its usually not a big deal for me.

i have tried to adhere to a strict 3k with conventional (no synthetic) +/- 1k miles depending on use
its right about 2800 with the usual 70% highway so I can stretch it to 4k but trying to approximate where it will be located at that mileage, might make it to Duluth area
    ...
I don't recall or remember hearing about return trip plans?

Duluth area sparks another interest of mine to crawl around Canada along Lake Superior to Michigan, I only made it partway once from Sault Ste Marie, then I discovered that the distance to Duluth was not a 'day trip' through Canada

The north shore is one of my favorite places in Minnesota. I need to get around to getting my passport so I can go explore around Canada too.

last time I was that far north no passport was required! just a drivers license and the customs people wanting to know what I was transporting in the back

I couldn't function with 3000 mile change intervals. Most of my trips these days are 5,000 miles or so lol

There isn't really a plan for return trips. Everyone is going to break off and head in different directions for the most part. It's going to be a haul for some people depending on how far north we get. I'm pretty much just winging it based on what time we finish up Sunday.
