That’s where my ideal place is for a jack, handles, shovel, and some straps / shackles.

When offroad, the bed will be closer to empty, leaving room to open, and I don’t have to remove gear when I haul MX bikes or anything else.
Keeps hands off the stuff too.

Can't argue but there's like 5 bolts per side and you could throw them in the bed. Another set for the bedsides and back to square one :bananadead:

It’s really not that difficult. Just need to have the willingness to cut into the bed.

I like the idea, but then again if I need to change a tire/ top off with gas while in the bush, I would have to completely empty the bed (assuming a bed full of camping gear).

Also, what truck is that? I carry at least 9 gallons of gas whenever I go somewhere remote. My truck gets anywhere from 8 - 18 mpg. That those 2 gal tanks won't do much. haha

I’d rather have 2 gallons of extra fuel than none. You’re not trying to rely on the extra fuel, it’s a reserve. 5 gallons gives me over a 1/4 tank which is more tHan enough to get me to my next fuel stop if you plan the route correctly. 9 gallons is excessive unless you’re WAY out there.

9x8# per gallon is a lot of extra weight

I am usually WAY out there. 4lo and being aired down to 15-18 psi uses A LOT of fuel. Route planning doesn't always go exactly to plan. Have you ever had to back track 60 miles due to a washed out ridge road? Plus its good to have extra in case you run into a vehicle that has run out of gas. Gas Stations are few and far between in remote utah.

Over the years I have probably given gas to 4 or 5 vehicles that have simply run out and were not prepared for there adventure.

Bigger gas tank = fuel cell also solves the problem.

I have looked into this, but since I am not linked I dont feel it necessary. Also, can this be legal from an emissions standpoint? Do I need the stock sending unit? I used to be from socal so I know people have them in there rigs, but I am not sure if they have that "hookup" every time they get emissions done.

I’ve definitely done my share of backtracking but to the distance is unknown.

This was done by SMP fab. He has a bunch of pics on Instagram on how he did it all. Super clean.

Cool yeah there is a guy here in NC that did something extremely similar. I wish I could remember his user name and try and find the build thread it's a pretty sweet truck.

I’d just contact the shop you grabbed the pic from. They’re obviously capable of the work.
