I have been aware of the "big 3" automakers since I was a teenager way back in the last century. Seems to me like they are really good at the fluff type stuff, by that I mean the cushy seats like in my folks 79 LTD p.o.s. or later my Dad's Taurus with perpetual electrical problems or my cool looking S 10 blazer with the crappy tranny. My Brother's Ford diesel that blew out some type of engine plugs in the block that cost 3 k to fix, the stereo in that thing was really good though. I actually have more examples but point made. Not to say that some of the foreign cars haven't had issues on occasion - Honda in the early 2000s with their auto trannys, subaru forever with the headgaskets. I know it may be somewhat anecdotal but the big 3 seem to almost always have problems as opposed to seldom. All show, no go.

I have e rated ko2s and i get nervous with this truck at 110. The engine also revs high with my speed manual and 4.30. The mpg suffers past 100

We all have our prejudices. Toyotas are thought of as reliable, dated, bland and boring.

This is my first Toyota. I wanted to find out for myself what it was all about. Some of the things I had heard about are clearly there, like solid assembly, great resale value, and a generic driving experience. Some things I was expecting, like a refined motor, are not really there. And some things I wasn’t anticipating, like an uncomfortable seat and an atrocious automatic transmission, are very much part of it.

    But I’m still finding out...

Sounds like you didn’t do enough research and thorough test drive. These things you mention are well known.

They may be well known among Toyota owners, but they are not really known outside Tacoma circles. Hence the large number of posts on here by surprised new owners.

I admit it didn’t even occur to me that in this day and age an automaker could still design uncomfortable seats and incompetent automatic transmissions. Even less an automaker of Toyota’s reputation.

If you are ok w full size, then maybe this would work for you, plus it's the same company as your Fiat :

    1) 2019 Ram 1500
    U.S. News Overall Score: 9.0/10 | $31,695

It should be no surprise that the top-ranked full-size pickup truck happens to be the most comfortable truck on the market. The Ram 1500 is fully redesigned for 2019, and in addition to its cushy interior, it also offers some of the best towing and hauling ratings in the class, a range of powerful engines, and great ride and handling characteristics. In short, it’s hard to go wrong with the Ram 1500.

I saw an add on TV recently showing Ford of Canada offering 0% financing for 5 years on the Ford F150. Quite surprising that they are offering free financing on their most popular and most profitable vehicle. More than half way thru the M.Y. so it can only mean that sales are not keeping up with dealer inventory.

It’s because no one can afford the Fords anymore whether it’s the new price tag or the price for maintenance afterwards

I’ll see how long I keep my Tacoma. I doubt my next vehicle will be another pickup, though. I want 4WD and body-on-frame construction, but I don’t need a pickup bed. At this rate my next vehicle will most likely end up being another Wrangler.

I just need to find a Jeep dealer I can work with...

Meh! My 16 Ram hasn’t spent any time in the shop outside of scheduled maintenance. Just completed my 22nd round trip from Alberta to northern Ontario last night. Don’t have anymore fear of it leaving me stranded than I did with my Tacoma.

I've got around 2K miles on my 2019 DCSB auto and have owned it since February. I don't have many complaints...

    Likes:
    Steering and overall driving experience
    Stock ground clearance
    Stock window tint
Stock OR features (all of them)
Dual injection (one of the only reasons I pulled the trigger)
The auto transmission is just okay, which is what i'd expect from a truck
The stock tires were actually pretty good in wet/mud/rock terrain (20 PSI)
Lots of back seat storage (Tow rope, first aid, pillow/blanket, tarp, tire repair kit, small tool kit, tape(s), tire defoliator, tire pump, bungee cords, 10.5" AR Pistol, ammo, shackles, gloves) I also keep an emergency backpack full of other essentials.

    Dislikes:
Limiting my ability to mod the truck due to TSS (grille, ride height, larger tires)
The brakes make the front of the truck nose-dive unless I'm VERY gentle
    The chrome rear bumper covers
    No "real" front recovery point
The OR wheels don't look great. (I'll be plasti dipping mine black soon)
    manual locking tailgate
ECT Power button is not on the gear selector (like it was on my '01 Celica)
    No rear diff. breather
The AC dripping on the frame
The navigation works fine but it's a PITA to find destinations.

The Fiat 124 is a re-badged Mazda MX-5, so it's probably the single most reliable vehicle in the entire FCA lineup :D

Unless FCA took part in some of the electronics for it...:anonymous:

I purposely made no judgement on his choice of manufacturer. Hopefully all works out well and I am sure he will have np disgorging his taco.
