I totally understand, different strokes for different folks lol. The Magura MT5 brakes are a damn near steal for the power and modulation you get

I’ll have to look into those more. Didn’t realize they were 4piston. The 2 piston XTs I just picked up were on sale for $85. I couldn’t say no :anonymous:

Don’t you need a different hub body, whatever it’s called, to run shimano 12 speed? My stache has GX 1x11 on it, so I’d probably switch to eagle if I decide I want lower gears. I’ll do more research if that ends up happening haha

They use the same caliper as the MT7 downhill brakes, the only difference is that the lever doesnt have tool free bite point adjust. Theyre like half the price too lol You can also customize the little circles on them... because gold....

Yeah so I could keep the XD driver and go eagle or swap to micro spline and go XT 12 speed everything. We will see if the day comes haha. I still need to order a dropper...

Actually, tonight is just a fast XC group ride at Forest Ridge that is hosted by the local GIANT shop. He said I could take it out elsewhere another time if I want to -- which I will do if I enjoy the ride tonight. I definitely want to test it somewhere with more rocks and roots before I pull any triggers.

What size is your Stache? Depending on how my initial shackdown ride with my new to me fuel goes, I might be unloading the dropper on that bike.

That is excellent feedback, sir! I am definitely a little concerned about the shorter rear shock for places like Pisgah and other technical areas.

My motivation for the switch to a faster 29er is that I've become MUCH less rowdy on the trails after shattering my leg into 20 pieces two years ago at DirtFest. To be honest, I kinda ride like a total pussy these days and hardly leave the ground. (I used to launch off everything at full speed without second thought... hence, the crash)

That crash really changed everything about how I approach more difficult/technical trails. I'm hoping that a switch to a faster 29er will make up for my tentativeness, in terms of speed, and ultimately be a better match for my lack of interest in hucking off every gap and drop these days. Make sense?

Large, 19.5. I’m planning on ordering the oneup v2 in 180mm...assuming my measurements are correct I should be able to run it at 180, I like the fact I can shorten it if I fucked up my calculations haha. I’m just impatient and the post won’t get here until next week and I’ll be in Fort Worth haha

Gotcha. The frame I bought already had a KS on it. I haven’t measured but I’m thinking it’s a 150mm or 175mm. I’ve got it slammed as low in the seat post as I can and it’s still borderline too tall for my short legs at full extension. That’s only based off of parking lot rides though. I still need to get it on trail to know for sure. If it turns out to be too long for me I’ll be selling it cheap.

i prefer SRAM code rsc because they are great and they actually deliver their products, unlike shimano (still waiting on xtr)
