I have a OEM Pro grill on my 2018 OR, and it was dealer installed last year.
My question is about the "garnish". It came with a pop-in insert that seems to be the same
mesh plastic material as the rest of the grill, and I have had some varying PCS sensor issues
(I won't even go into the whole recall issue I just dealt with..),
so was finally thinking about getting the smooth looking garnish, part number 53141-35060.
Curious if just popping this garnish in myself will require another calibration of the system at my dealership.
    I'm hoping it won't.

    Thanks in advance

    Not much stock left.
I didn’t have mine calibrated after swapping my grill and installing the garnish.

Nope. You're just swapping the plastic thing for the shiny plastic thing. Sensor stays in the same spot.

Just make sure it isn’t currently sitting on a Toyota lot or they’ll call bs. Go on autotrader and search for a private party one in like a 500 mile radius of your zip, I’m sure a few will pop up.

Im pretty much ready to pull the trigger on one of these but am really concerned about having to recalibrate the TSS. Can anyone give me a little reassurance on that?

I’ve got a 2019 OR with a three inch lift and 285/75/16’s. Everything is working perfectly with the OEM grill. I hate the look of the grill and really want one of these but just don’t want any problems down the road.

    Thanks...

I did the recall first. Once it was done I put the new grille on with the sensor. Everything works great.

    None yet, several planned
I did the same thing, waited for the recall then switched out the grill. I purchased a knock off grill, but I bought a genuine Toyota grill garnish and have zero issues so far.

Thanks guys. I’m not concerned because of the recall though. My truck is new enough that it was already done before I bought it. My concern is having it malfunction after switching it to the new grill and getting a bunch of warning lights and crap. I’d rather leave the stock grill on - even though I hate the damn thing - than deal with all that...

The pro grille sensor sits lower than the OR so it should actually work out better than stock with your lift.

I was wondering this too. I am doing a 2.75" ICON Stage 3, 4, or 5 on my 19 Tacoma TRD Off-road with 285/65/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers and Fuel Off-Road wheels and was wondering if the location of the TSS sensor in the Off-Road grill would still work correctly. I also may get the PRO grill and garnish plate, that will lower the sensor some and I would think with that the sensor would be in relatively the same location with the PRO grill and that lift, vs stock height and the Off-road grill.

Where’d you get the genuine garnish? My dealership refused to sell me a pro grill under orders from the mothership because I don’t have a pro. True story...

The problem with eBay is that you never really know what you’re getting. They can say they are genuine but there are a gazillion examples out there of knockoffs sold every day all claiming the same thing.

Yea i heard that! I really don't want an aftermarket piece, but it looks like that's the only way I will get one. If I can't have OEM, I'll just keep the Off-Road grill. :)

There are a lot of other options besides the pro. There are several manufacturers making their own designs that are pretty wicked looking. Some selling right here on the site. There’s one I’m seriously considering right now. Just still really afraid of making the leap and having issues with the TSS...

I worry about the TSS stuff too. I dont want any issues on a brand new truck. I may just stick with my Off-road grill for now. I'm sure a 2.75" lift won't affect the TSS, at least from what I have read it doesn't.

That’s how much lift mine has and I haven’t had any problems at all. It works perfectly and I’d like to keep it that way. I just really dont like the looks of that cheese grater on the OR. Problem is, I would like TSS issues even less...

Yes I agree, I would rather have no issues with the TSS. While I'm not the biggest fan of the Off-Road grill, it's OK looking and i can live with it if it means no other issues. :)

My local dealership wouldn’t sell me the pro grill for the 18-19 but had no problem selling me the pro grill for a ‘17 ... they’re the same grille except for the garnish.
