The dealership you were/are working with appears to have screwed the pooch with the repair. YOU need to continue to be an educated consumer about the TSB. Make them get you the right parts by talking to the dealership, talking to another dealership, and/or talking to corporate.

Other things you can do- Report the dealer to corporate as uncooperative/stupid. Report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Good luck with your LL application tho.

well..........them finally getting it right after me explaining was worth it,because its about a $1500 job for them, and that includes labor and alignment.

as for fixing it yourself, its possible, but it will cost you. probably the cheapest way to upgrade if the dealer doesnt do it for you is getting aal's for the rear, or maybe even a set of supersprings helper springs. both will increase the payload a bit and help with bottoming out. but as for the items being under warranty, and the tsb being under warranty, i'd rather have the dealer do it and make sure its done right(all dealers should be informed by now) instead of having to pay outta pocket.

Holly Shit! You guys are scaring the shit out of me. I took My 08 Dcab TRD offroad in yesterday. The dealership gave me no trouble, but they did say this would be the first (I hope they meant '08 model) TSB they had done. I'm sorry this has been such a hassle for you man. Especially with your kids even complaining about the ride. DAMN!

Well at least I'm not the only one with this problem. Long, long story but after I finally got my worthless dealer to replace the springs, they still gave me the 3-leaf springs. I took it back, showed them the TSB with the "old" part number clearly matching the number on my so-called "new" springs, and they continue to claim "that's what the engineer sent them" and there is no problem. They flat out refuse to order the new 4-leaf springs. So I don't really know what to do. I was so pissed this morning about the whole situation, after picking up my truck for like the 5th trip to the dealer. It's crazy to pay $30,000 for something under warranty that you can't get fixed. Anyway, does anyone know if installing new Bilstein 5100 shocks will void the TSB, even if I ever get them to agree to do it?

Take it to a different dealer.

I gotta admit, I lol'd at people on the internet not knowing anything.

Call the customer experience number- They are the corporate arm of the company and can help you with the dealership.
And no-The shocks shouldn't change anything.

A few months ago I bought a desk including bookshelf and a large storage cabinet at Ikea. I don't know the exact weight of this stuff but it was heavy. Like five boxes worth that was the with of the bed and about a foot longer (had to ride with the tailgate open). Back of the truck was about level with the front and I had my wife in the cab with me. I figured it would be a good test of the springs if I need the TSB. I gotta say that when I drove away from the store I could feel that there was a heavy load in the back but the truck did not bottom out at all and stayed firm through the parking lot and back roads and finally out on the highway.

If your truck IS bottoming out then you definately need to get the TSB. Take it to another dealer. Explain your situation calmly and hopefully they will be able to fix your situation. It might just take a different set of eyes AND ears.

I kinda believe if it aint broke don't fix it so I would be hesitant to take my truck to the dealer for this TSB if it doesn't really need it,,, basically because I don't trust or have faith in the dealership and could come outta there WITH a problem. IF I want more capacity, taller ride height or firmer ride,,, I would rather take it to a shop that does a lot of off-rad work on Tacomas and get aftermarket springs/suspension.

NO MODS YET! 20" Enkeis with NT420 performance tires coming soon...inspired by genxer36.
Translation: semi-recall. Manufacturer acknowleges problem but won't issue a recall because problem is not serious enough. recalls hurt their image especially when the governement forces one.

    ...hijacked from autorepair.about.com

There are two types of motor vehicle recalls. The first is when a vehicle has a safety related defect as determined by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA). This would be a Mandatory Recall. A Voluntary Recall is when the manufacturer recalls vehicles for a defect not necessarily related to safety. Any repairs made under a recall is paid for by the manufacturer.

A Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) is issued when a known problem or condition exists in a certain vehicle(s) and contains a repair for that problem. A TSB can also be issued to notify dealerships of diagnostic procedure changes, modified or improved parts or service manual revisions and updates.

TSBs are "Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty". This means if the vehicle is within it's warranty period, repair as outlined by the TSB is paid for by the manufacturer. If the vehicle is out of warranty, the customer is responsible for the repairs.

OK, so if the spring part # ends with G those are the Good ones? Those are what I have, I've had my 400ex quad in the back with no issues so I figure I'm good. Now about that driveline vibration.......
