Theres a good multi use trail in my town that is very popular and is very shaded. The only time I have ever seen horses on it is saturday morning. AKA best time to ride bikes for most people. The other thing is that no horse owners ever do anything about the massive amounts of horse shit they leave in the middle of the trail.

sorry, but that's *a little* funny...only because it wasn't me.

I had a trail that was down in Maple Canyon. Chased a cow for 2.5 miles with liquid shit falling out its ass the whole time. Me and my friend actually got refused service at the local bar afterwards. Even offered to use the patio with no chair cushions. No dice.

Any place I should look for skinwall tires? Trying to get a hold of a pair of maxxis skinwalls for my Bronson in something like a DHR, but I'm not finding much of anything.

hahahah yeah I basically threw my shirt away and tried to forget about the event. The great outdoors has its downsides sometimes eh

Maxxis doesnt make DHR in skinwall only DHF and only in 27.5. Its fucking infuriating.

I want skin walls so bad. I used to spam maxxis’s social media about it.

I wish I went 27.5 on my Jeffsy. Not gonna lie

WTB may very well get my business for my next set because a lot of theirs come in skinwall.

Yeah same. The only consistent Maxxis skinwall I have found is the Ardent

I still think the short-travel aggressive bikes are fun as shit man, regardless of terrain (maybe not on bigger drops). I love riding my Marshall, 110 out back, 140 front, modern(ish) low/long/slack.
I do agree though, the new longer travel platforms are incredibly efficient and fast. I'm always shocked how easy it is to pedal my Spartan 29 with 165/160. They're just a different feel. One is quick, nimble, spritely. The other is fast, comfortable, and aggressive.
That being said... I haven't ridden the Marshall in 3 months.

Coming back from Europe, I can confirm. Everyone moves off trail, and they're usually really cool about it, some even cheer you on.

Haha, a big part of riding is to know thyself! I will give you this anecdotal story of my brother. He is 43 and wanted to get into mountain biking with his teenage son. I tried to talk him into buying a bike with more slack geometry than what he was buying. Instead, he went with the same bike that he was getting his son, Trek X-Caliber. His son was interested in doing some XC races with the local NICA league so for him that bike was perfect. My brother, on the other hand, rode motorcross for a few years and I knew that he would be trying to jump his bike on the first day. So fast forward 2 months into the purchase, his son loves his bike and my brother hates his. He just has that tendency to try and get a little rowdier on the trails. Now his bike isn't stopping him from trying jumps, drops, etc. but it just causes him to fail a lot more.

Just picked up a Bedrock Bags micro frame bag in black, and put in an order with Backcountry for the Deity 787 bronze bars and stem caps. Plus got a set of black mallets on sale, and I'm gonna rattle-can the red Zee cages on the Stache to bronze. Should make a pretty spiffy setup!

Such a rad event. I went 2 years ago, and the stuff is EVEN BIGGER in person. Truly insane what these athletes are willing to do.

Don't let late October fool you, the sun will still fry you. Of course the dusty pedal in and a load of day drinking didn't help. Nor did wearing a fleece giraffe onesie.

Then go hit Gooseberry Mesa since it is right there, and maybe swing through Zion at sunrise when it is cool and the cars arent there yet.

If you need a few campsite hits for Rampage weekend, lemme know. It gets pretty crowded in the good spots, but if you can find room, the party never stops!

It's all for the glory and the exposure. The pay isn't THAT great for the event. There was a rider 3ish years ago that decided he wasn't gonna drop in once he was at the top.

You get a 10 min start window and they sit at the top and watch the wind flags and then when they see the breeze drop down just a little, they drop in. His wind flags didn't let up and he made the call to live another day.

I enjoy the conversation of "RedBull is putting these riders lives in danger". As if they're being held against their will. They ride bikes for a living for goodness sake
