    Hello all,

    Not an owner of a tacoma but I'm looking to get one and becoming one of the many posters on this board as well as a first time truck owner.

    I'm interested in the extra-cab versions of the 4x4 or 4x2 in an automatic from 1995-1999. Is there a particular year I should be weary of and is there anything specific that I should check (both the V6 and the 4 cylinder) before making a purchase. Stuff like transmission issues, engine problems (head gaskets etc.), electrical, etc..I plan on getting one from a private party.

    I'll probably be posting this question in the 1st gen section as well.
