Hey Rob.. morning. How is the job going? Read you were thinking of becoming a civilian and still working for Umcle Sam. A friend did that any years ago and almost doubled led his income. He finally retired and moved to Florida with the other "blue hairs". Not my cup of tea. Have a good one

Hi Ken, I've been retired from active duty 10 yrs and working civil service as GS-7. I've turned down promotion opportunities to avoid management headaches. Current Boss is again asking me to apply for supervisor position over my section. It's a GS-9 day shift position (I'm on swing shift in work lead position now) with potential for promotion to GS-10. Since I've decided I'll work 'til age 65 or 67, I think I'm going to apply for it this time. :)

Sorry, I misread your post about the supervisory position. If you have good people, being in management isn't so bad, but if you have one or more problem children it will make your life miserable. Been there done that Rob. Fortunately I had the age to retire. Been good ever since. Was driving for the dealership for 4 years until Deb retired full time and now we go or do what we want when we want. Life is good. :D

    No worries, Ken.
I'd be supervising 3. One guy is rock solid and I'd lobby to move him into the lead position I currently fill. The other plays Army dumb due to his background, but he'll do what he's told, just nothing more...I'm sure you know the type. The third I'd have a say in hiring. I think I can win with those odds.
    :fingerscrossed:
The bigger role in the new position is planning cargo movement (logistics) operations, and communicating the plans to the executors, for the whole port. Which fits me like a glove due to my 22 yrs Command and Control (Operations Management) experience on active duty. Which is exactly why this is the forth time they've asked me to apply for the position. Bottom line, if I'm gonna work 10 to 12 more years, I figure I might as well try to be part of the solution, and benefit from higher pay and retirement check, instead of watching and criticizing from the sidelines.

This old man was sitting at the bus stop and a younger kids with green, orange, yellow, and blue ruffled hair sits down beside him.

The old guy couldn't help staring at this kid's hair and after a few minutes the kid says "what's the matter ain't you done anything daring before?"

The old guy says yes when I was about your age I Fu**Ed a parrot and I was wondering if you were my kid.

You guys speaking about parrots reminded me of that one. :)

Looking at that cartoon leads me to believe that I may have a split personality.
