Taking off the headlights right now, last bolt is spinning. Thought it was stripped but on both sides it still spins. It’s the one directly down. Tips?

Take the front bumper off. Makes it easier to get to “the hidden bolt”

Just showed some friends and was talking about properties, but they want something we could all have space in. Also they'd rather waterfront and cleared enough to build more structures!

Can't please em all I guess...I just want a cabin to chill at!

Anybody in here have any experience with Mazdas? I've been thinking about getting a cheap stick shift to practice on and have some fun with, my coworker is asking $1,000 for his dads 2007 Mazda3 2.3L with 216,000 miles. Apparently has a new clutch. I'm wondering how long the motor in this thing will last for, even if i keep it for a year without problems and sell it i'd be happy. @68dave

Like most vehicles, if it's been well maintained it should suit your needs. Personally when it comes to daily drivers & reliability I stick with Toyota or Honda.

Yeah its tempting because it's his dad's car and he's a retired engineer who has a thing for Mazda's. He has 3 currently and is selling this one to clear room for another with a salvage title that he wants to fix up. This one has a clean title and came from a dealer. I'm gonna get an insurance quote and think it through. I don't really need it because I have a Nissan that I daily but it's definitely tempting cuz I've wanted a manual car for awhile

A nice waterfront place will cost a bit more. I love the mountains & being secluded. I've always been into offroading so its perfect for someone like me. It's just a short ATV ride to the Potomac river to fish, kayak, tubing... If I don't leave my property I dont see another person, a passing vehicle...total privacy, that's what I like. Its definitely not for everyone.

I know a couple people that use or used these as commuters with well over 200k miles. Most of them are still going. 1 of them got crashed at like 270k miles. Just gas, tires, and oil up until it was totaled. The all seemed to wear well for their age too. Interiors are abused, but could be cleaned up nicely.

For a grand, i don’t think you could get hurt lol.

In my experience, just because an engineer owned it doesn’t mean it was maintained well. But in this case it sounds like there is no reason why it wouldn’t have been maintained well if the guy really likes mazdas that much.

My first car was owned by literal rocket scientist and that motherfucker had literally ZERO mechanical sympathy. Never have i lost so much money on a vehicle.

    Sell the Nissan?

So yesterday morning I was headed to work minding my own business. I was still in my neighborhood but my truck didnt feel right. The tires werent humming their usual hum. I look at my right rear tire and it has managed to loosen itself... That as never happened to me before. The bolts arent stripped either, I do have 1" Spacers but those are all tight as well... thats my story for the day

I'll admit the Taco is the first vehicle I've had this much pride in ownership of...after seeing how well my wife's Prius has held up as my commuter car. I've put a few cars through the paces and they've come out worse for the wear and didn't really see their full potential. But the Prius has been great and oil changes for life has helped keep it running smoothly.
Now the truck I've taken on as my automotive learning tool, because even though I'm an engineer (sometimes a rocket scientist or more specifically explosives) deep diving into the functionality and design of vehicles was not my forte.

The truck has proven to be easy to learn on, and this community is a wealth of knowledge and dedicated enthusiasts has given me the push to take on more in an effort to be more self sufficient. It's been pretty good so far and I only look forward to learning more and having fun with it. Functionality over aesthetics has always been my #1 but with this truck I'm able to achieve both.

This guy worked on micro chips and guidance systems.

Never changed his oil, never washed his vehicle, and the interior was beyond foul. Apparently his wife kicked him out once and he lived in the car for a few weeks at one point in time.

I packed their entire house into two penske trucks in exchange for the car. Took me a month and a half. I liked the car. Intended in fixing it up. Made the mistake of not working on the drivetrain first. Did everything else, tires, brakes, bearings, seals, suspension, then the motor went. Snowballed into $8400 in a car worth about $4500. Sold it for $4500 to a girl who used it for three years as her first car and she wore out everything on that car that inreplaced, except the motor. Saw it for sale a town over and stopped to look at it. I was disgusted to know that of its 4 owners, i was the only one that ever gave a shit about it.

Engineers are completely awesome and they literally make the world go round. But they are definitely a different breed of people, for sure
