Never should have been in the US anyways. They were better quality when made in Japan.

That’s just capitalism at work. People want cheap trucks and the costs are lower in Mexico, I don’t see the problem.

Well, I do see the problem but I have no answer. Used to own a small T-shirt business that could sell American or foreign made shirts. Some customers asked for the American made stuff and I would just pass the extra 25 cents per shirt through and not add my markup because I wanted to sell them too. On a typical order the cost difference would be about $40. You know how many American made shirts I sold? Zero, nada, none. Through that experience I lost all respect for people that beat their chests about buy American, but wouldn't spend 25 cents to save an American job.

Just to clarify, a typical order was 160 shirts? $40 into 25 cents more each?

Correct a typical order was around 160 shirts. The American made shirts were equal in quality to the ones made elsewhere, but were 25 cents more, my cost, each. The whole order would be in the $1,600 - $1,800 range depending on options. The $40 extra for the American made shirt option was always declined. I wanted to sell the American shirts, they were damn hard to source as there was only one factory remaining at the time. I felt I was doing my part by offering them for sale and not charging a markup, and I let my customers know that as well. (btw not charging a markup isn't something I did with anything else, everything got marked up.)

Those that beat the "buy American" drum always offered some excuse about why they didn't buy the American shirts. My feeling was put your money where your mouth is. The cost difference was so small that I was surprised time after time when they were declined. I'll admit to forming a negative opinion of folks that beat that drum. It's probably not fair, but it was my experience.

    What a dope...

Baker mistakes 'Moana' birthday cake request for 'marijuana'

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - If 'Moana' and 'marijuana' sounds the same to you, you're not alone.

A Georgia woman's Facebook post is going viral after posting about a hilarious birthday cake mix-up.

Kensli Taylor Davis says that her mom ordered a cake from a local baker for her upcoming 25th birthday party. Her mother told the baker how much Kensli loved Disney's 'Moana' and wanted a cake themed around the character.

When her mother went to pick up the cake, she found a marijuana-themed birthday surprise!

"So my mama called and ordered me a cake telling them how much I loved Moana. (Because really I do)," Kensli wrote on Facebook. "Well needless to say these people thought she said marijuana ."

The baker reportedly misheard the mother and decorated Kensli's cake with a cannabis leaf and a 'My Little Pony' character that appeared to be stoned and smoking a joint. To complete the look, the pony also appeared to have red eyes and a pot leaf tattoo on its side.

"We weren’t mad about it or anything. We thought it was funny so we just ate it anyway!" Kensli told Fox 35.

Kensli said that it was the best cake ever!

"That ice cream cake was still good though ‍♀️."

It just seems weird to me. I though it was more common to go out to eat and have a special dessert or something.

I'm 57, and my mother has never failed to bake a cake for my birthday.

I am also diabetic, which means I can no longer eat said cake.

She told me it wasn't for me, it was for everyone else that has had to put up with me over the years.

    Then the real question is...

    How big is that cake?

Well I can't remember the last birthday cake I had. I guess I'm the outsider.
