So I took my father in law to AOAA over the weekend so he could try out his Jeep that he’s been working on. Greens are boring and blues get sketchy quick. I can’t wait to get back to rausch where I feel more familiar.

Anyway, he had an electronic throttle control error light pop up on the dash and it went into limp mode and would barely run. We eventually got it winched off upper anthracite and limped it back to the parking lot. Then he researched fixing it while I researched how to get it home. A few hours later we had a 20’ box truck and a trailer.

    That’s a pricey tow!

Why didn’t you drive to Uhaul to get just a trailer?

When Volks truck got hit in Va (30 mins from FPK) we limped to Uhaul an hour away following him crab walking with a bent rear axle and camped in the lot till they opened up the next morn. We put the trailer on @PPansini10 truck and towed him from Va to Jersey...

Expensive!!! I looked into it. Plus where I live a lot of places want/require you to go on rotation for the PD so that adds even more cost since you have to have an impound yard.

I've got one of them, but I'm not going on any rotation. My tow company will also provide lube for those hefty bills.

That's a nice bonus you provide. Not sure about up there but down here a local in town tow can cost anywhere from 80-100 bucks depending on the company even if it is just a mile down the road.

Naw it's all good tried with another truck and the dolly that didn't fair so well. Had to go back and get the uhaul truck. It happens it was an experience that's for sure and hasn't stopped me yet.

I tried and they wouldn’t rent me a trailer for the Tacoma because the “Tacoma can’t tow enough weight”. Not the first time U haul has told me that. Idk how you guys got away with it in VA. They must not care.

Total was about $280 plus fuel for the truck.

I just told them I was hauling a little Honda Accord. What they don't know won't hurt them and just don't show up with the vehicle you are going to haul with it.

    I suppose that would work.

I didn’t personally care though because it just means less abuse on my truck. Plus without a trailer brake controller I would’ve had a hard time controlling that thing. My truck has a hard enough time stopping on its own.

Coming down twister I couldn’t stop. Rear disc conversion needs to happen soon.

I ended up needing a truck as well because the Tacoma that tried to tow mine had trouble safer with a bigger truck plus the DCLB wouldn't fit on a trailer I had to use a dolly.

Yea I was disappointed at how short u haul’s “auto transport trailer” is. 4 door wrangler was like the perfect size. My dclb would need to have the rear ramps halfway extended lol

I wish the tire straps were bigger too.. we had to just go over the axle. No where near big enough and he’s only on 35’s

    What broke on your truck?
