patent is on the way for this products so i dont think anyone will be making something similar any time soon..

 

If you have a router and drill, you could order an HDPE sheet online and make one for fairly cheap.

 

Have anyone done this before? What thickness the board would need to be for this project?

depending on what size you wanna get, and the CNC cutting process, your time and effort in making them yourself, it will add up to be even more expensive.

 

Rock crawler guys have used HDPE for skids for a while. For simple and cheap, you could get a piece of 1/4" or even 1/8" and just bolt it to the existing corrugated tailgate for about $75.

 

not if you change the design. it doesn't need the two cup holder pockets (as if it'd make the difference between you spilling your drink and not spilling your drink) or the giant logo. that's probably 25% of the cycle time right there.

exactly, the product is an over-engineered solution to a minor problem.

 

I would rather not have the logo. Harder to clean fish guts out of it

 

Any chance of an economy type board. Maybe one with less machining, no cup holders etc?

 

one company tried copying the exact same design but got shut down coz like i said, patent is on going already.

You can buy a 24”x54” 1/2” thick hose sheet for $70 bucks a piece of 1/4” for $36. Make a template and cut it yourself counter sink the mounting holes and save $150 +\-

 

I’m sorry, you took that the wrong way. I was asking if you would consider an economy version. I use my truck for camping, drag gear in and out of it. I don’t really need cup holders or fancy anything. Just want something that’s flat and easier on me when crawling into the bed after a long hike. I have looked at your product a few times and have discussed it with my Tacoma buddy. We both agree that we just can’t justify the price tag on it and that’s why we didn’t purchase. It looks nice and has been catching my attention since I came across it. Maybe sometime I’ll pick one up.

I do like mine a lot and use it all of the time. What I don't like is..2 days after I bought it the price dropped 30 for father's day. A week after that it dropped 40 for first responders. I contacted them and they asked for my address. That was weeks ago and nothing else has happened.

 

but that wont be safe to use as a cutting board..

Yep. I'm a F/F EMT and nothing. I sent a follow up message and he told me "It's coming". But I don't know what I'm waiting for. Patch? Sticker? Awesomeness? Who knows..

 

i just love its functionality and also, the red color really sold me.. lol
