noticed it on the way home from dealership. Googled the problem and found in the past they had problems with the glue holding the hood skin to the bracing. Popped my hood and sure enough the glue is stuck to the braces but not to the hood skin. Anybody else with a 2019 had this problem? Not sure whether to take to dealer or fix myself. Don’t really want to take it in if they are going to take the hood off. I’d rather get the right adhesive and just squirt some in the voids myself.

I had it fixed by my dealer on my 16. I’d just do it myself, it’ll look better when you are finished.

Google this stuff It's made exactly for this application To lay it done correctly you will need the gun

    3M 08463 Flexible Foam - 200ml

You want to use material that has some flex so not to create distortion in the sheet metal under wind loading.

Finally tackled this problem today. A buddy owns a body shop and brought me a tube of SEM seam sealer in gray. It is applied with a caulk gun. I removed the grill for better access. Covered the engine compartment for drips if any. Stuff went on easy and worked great. The first 2 pictures are before and the last 2 are after.

Also curious as my hood has been doing this since the day I brought it home a few months ago.

my 2019 i bought new at the end of april does NOT have any issues with this. I checked and every area where there is the putty stuff, is together as it should be. I have 2000 miles on my truck now and it was built jan 2019.

is this something that happens over time- the OP seems to have it from the factory- or is it something that is there from day 1?

My truck was built in april and i bought it in early may, so to me that essentially says mine came like that fresh out of the factory

Mexico. But based on the other several threads on this issue its happening from all the different plants. Seems to be random.

Its brand new dude. Take it to the dealer. It gets documented in your report and if you ever have problems with it in the future (even after the warranty) its covered. You go messing with it and Toyota is going to say (sorry but that voided your warranty).

Yeah I don't think it matters, mine was purchased in April (not sure of the built date) and built in Mexico and doesn't have this issue.

I had a 2019 Limited for a couple of months. It had the same issue, insufficient application of flex seal on the hood framing. Brought to dealer they said, you guessed it, NORMAL. This Limited had other issues, mainly the out of specifications rear axle creating vibs and serious hesitation. It was built in Mexico in Feb 2019. I ended trading it back to the dealer after I complained about being sold poor quality. I'm a many repeat customer so I got a pretty good deal on a 2019 TRD PRO. The hood on the PRO is much stronger structurly with the stamped panels raising the hood for the controversial fake skewp. This hood does not flex at all at high speed. I've done 85+ on highway on windy days and nothing. Also this PRO (mfg Texas) has no issues, except one, passenger seat makes slight leather rubbing sounds . Probably needs a tweak. It drives and shifts smoothly averaging 20mpgs since I got it this May, now at 4400 miles. I had Tundras for past 12 years So I am used to the power and torque, but I wasn't using it so went with Tacoma. I'm having fun driving it and don't miss lumbering around in the Tundra. Sorry for the blabbering, I had nothing better to do.

I was waiting for someone to note the scooped hood on Pros and Sport models is much more rigid, very solid. I was considering trading my sport hood with scoop for a smooth top but my wife said "don't you dare!"

I agree with you wife. Even though its doesn't skewp anything, it adds structure and style I like the look Especially from the Drivers position and from the outside ties nose body lines together IMO.

My Taco hood’s ok but the wifes ‘19 4R hood vibrates up near windshield.
I’ll have to pop out the liner and look.

Guys. I bought mine the day it came off the truck at the dealership and noticed the problem the next day so it was definitely bad from the factory. I contacted the dealer and they gave the usual never heard of it response. I had already researched it and there have been lots of people with this issue. Some people said the dealer removed their hood and fixed it. Others said they replaced the entire hood. Problem with that is the hoods aren’t painted so the body shop has to do that. I have a friend that owns a body shop and after talking to him I was sure I could do as good if not a better job of fixing it and without removing the hood. He gave me the seam sealer but it can be bought for about $15 online. It uses a standard caulk gun and it’s easy to apply. Don’t be scared to try it. Just cover the engine compartment for drips and keep wet rags or paper towels handy for your hands and any excess that might squirt out. I basically visually inspected the whole thing first and marked all of the bad joints that way the repair would be smoother. I pushed up slightly on the hood skin in the effected areas and squirted the sealer in. When I let go of the hood skin it returned to its natural shaped and smushed the sealer. The end result was clean and worked perfectly. No more vibration. Ps I also removed the grill so I could reach all the areas better.
