@Wulf Just read the other posts, it actually did need heads too haha. Nothing like a 6 leaker to make you nostalgic for the days of the 7.3

 

It didn't fail, Preventative as long as I had it apart for the EGR cooler and Oil Cooler upgrade. Didn't want to do this Twice.

Well that's good, I helped a friend with multiple EGR cooler related issues and in the end we ended up having to pull the damn thing and mill the heads because of rapid coolant loss on the highway.

 

yeah, sounds about right. did the dealer do the head gaskets under warranty? they never machine the heads so they pretty much always fail again even if they add studs

 

That motor is flawed to the point where none of us wanted to risk trusting it. We fixed it cheap and quick to unload it at a used dealer so he could get out of that 30k mistake of a vehicle. He bought a 1999 crew cab long bed with the 7.3 and a Borg Warner turbo that made my head look small. Fucker still hauls to this day with that thing

 

No tunes as yet, maybe in the future, just really want reliability.
