In defense of not doing it yourself, if you use coil compression work arounds you might end up missing some teeth.

Another question I had before I went out and borrowed spring compressors from Auto Zone was, I knew you had to reuse the original bushings as the new 5100s did not come with them. And those people doing it this way said they couldn’t compress the spring enough to put the bushings on and were having to cut the bushings in order to make it fit. The shops use magic dust and don’t have this problem. Just kidding....they have expensive safe tools they use which makes this job both safe and easy.

It’s such a rad spot. Really not much like it out there with that old school top-to-bottom steep gnar vibe. The construction this year definitely broke up some of the flow though...

@jeff b That movie is sick but if you're driving through Quebec on your way to Palm Springs you definitely took a wrong turn at Albuquerque

Fixing it is one thing. To prevent further incidences from happening I would install the Wheelskin steering wheel cover. It'll protect your wheel and still give it a stock look, without looking like a typical cover. I'm always carrying a pocket knife and occasionally scrape my wheel too.

That scuff will probably go down over time and use. I'd probably find a way to carefully shave off the standing pieces, use a leather cleaner, then use a leather conditioner (to the whole wheel). That should hide it pretty well. I've been using a cleaner and conditioner I got from a furniture store and it's been working great (for basic leather items). If you're going to install Wheelskins, just clean the Wheelskins with water, not the leather products.

I appendix carry and pocket carry an OTF bladed knife. I take care to slide, not roll, out of the seat. An Ounce of Prevention... comes to mind.

I agree. Different prevention, but my steering wheel cover has kept my stock wheel in great shape.

Definitely agree. Ergonomics in the Tacoma can be challenging. Especially lifted trucks.

Installed Victory4x4 bed stiffeners this morning in prep for my topper. These turned out to be the best for me. Looked at 4 different ones and these were the least intrusive. I need that D ring and level floor to slide things in and out of truck bed. Also they ended up being the least expensive and don’t forget your discount code.

Gotta get them when they come in stock, but SCS wheels fit the bill.
