For us as kids it was “COMBAT with Vic Morrow.”

It was great as we were living in dependent housing in Pattonville while my father was stationed in Germany. As soon as the episode was over all the kids would pile out into the courtyard and act it out, the Air Force dependent kids were always made to be the nazis. Good times.

Not the new one with all the triggered chicks, right? ;)

The last movie I saw in a theater that really blew me away was The Matrix, and that was what? 20 years ago?

I haven't seen anything recently that hit that level of Great Movie.

Even the ones that I think maybe could do that again always seem to disappoint, not by being bad, but just not being as good as I had hoped (Pacific Rim, Avengers Endgame, Alita Battle Angel, Spiderman Far From Home) and I can't count the number of "Blockbusters" that come out that I have Zero interest in seeing.

So it's obvious that either I've gotten a lot more fickle in my old age or Hollywood is generally putting out crap (like the girl-power Ghostbusters being a prime example of "Why would I want to pay to see Hollywood ruin a good movie by updating it to be PC?"

Or simply updating a great movie (Schwarzenegger Total Recall) into an utter steaming turd (Colin Farrell Total Recall) that couldn't be saved despite featuring Fantasy Goddess Kate Bekinsale.

All that said, I did indeed like Big Trouble and Smokey and The Bandit :D

I think the hardest I've ever laughed at a movie was when a bunch of us went to see the original Porky's in the theater.

I was actually underage (as were a couple of others) but nobody checked ID then.

We were physically hurting from laughing so hard.

I saw American Pie while deployed to Bosnia in a multinational role, with folks from about 40 different countries in the little theatre we had. The funniest part of that was the non-native English speakers laughing about 5 seconds after the native English speakers because they were busy translating the movie in their heads. Three of my British buds and I were laughing more at the French than the movie, and we liked the movie.
