So I guess they don't want to sell the truck?

I live in the rust belt. At this time I would be more concerned with flood vehicles than from rust. Around here rust is just another color.

I’ve never had a dealership salesmen or online rep do anything more than try to get my contact info and schedule a time for me to come and see the vehicle in question. They don’t give a fuck outside of that.

I dealt with a dealer once that promised pictures and never sent it (after calling and speaking with someone twice). I moved on and started looking elsewhere and found my current '14 from someone else. If that's any indication of their dealings, I don't want a part in it. Just my opinion.

I don't see what's so hard about taking a few general pictures of the frame. Lift isn't needed. People are just lazy.

Everywhere in the US floods. *'cept Denver.....maybe.

Hell my truck was in Harvey, we got 60" of rain gauged 3 blocks away. It got to my brake rotors. A block away some people had water to the dash.

Maybe they have people interested that aren’t requesting pictures of the frame.

I went through similar situations within the last year before buying my truck. Some dealers sent me pictures of the frame after I requested, some didn't.
Honestly, they might of forgot I had to remind a few of them.
Even the ones with rusted frames still sent me pictures, which I respected.

If they have time to talk on the phone, tell them to Skype or face time and stick the damned phone under the truck for a minute.

Because Toyota only made like 30 of them, and the people who have them keep them forever!

Hard to believe that someone finds a rare MT, that's a 2014 which has no history of frame rust, and unwilling to drive just 2 hours to view/buy it.

Best wishes on your long continued search.

Just because it's a 14, doesn't mean the frame doesn't rust. Salt eats through everything, you agree? Why do I care? Because I have seen some of the 14 models with rust frame from the same area, though I have seen quite a bit of cleaner frames because the owners actually rinse the undercarriage in the winter.

Plus, being brand new to the area with no friends and family around. I have to take consideration of how I am going to buy the truck, and get my other vehicle home. 2 hours probably sound nothing to you but for me, at this point, kinda challenging. Plus, I am not even too positive that my current vehicle can get me there safely. Being in my current situation, you'll know.

And have you ever actually driven for about 2 hours to check out something and ended up not getting it? Good feelings?
And all of this can be done by just a couple of pictures

Mate, I’ve gone to a different continent to buy something and left empty handed because it just wasn’t what the seller had claimed.

All the advice presented to you is accurate. It may be the deal of the century but asking for more pictures will likely always end the same with no response. It’s not because they don’t like you, it’s just that they don’t care enough to take pictures of a frame that they can see some rust on. Since most sales drones don’t actually know anything about cars past what the flash cards they look at teach them they’d have no idea what a little bit of normal surface rust vs. rot would look like.

If it looks like a legit deal from where you are sitting offer a refundable deposit to hold it and get up there within 24 hours. Hopefully it will be the perfect example for your needs and the negotiated price hits the mark.

Welcome to TacomaWorld. We may not always tell people what they want to hear but you’ll find that the bulk of us will try to open your eyes to what your emotions may overlook.
