All I remember from the 70’s was mount the big whip on one back corner of the 65’ Dodge Coronet station wagon with mud grip rear tires and you could get great reception on top of the mountain pointing the opposite corner, r/f fender towards Wheeling WVA

No shit we used to pick a high point and listen to wwva wheeling jamboree on the am radio from Tyson’s Corner Va. weren’t too many country options back then. Wmzq wasn’t there, we had wpik/wxra in Alexandria that was awesome but mzq put them out of business

It was @Taco Guy11’s old setup. All i did was use a different radio and mount.

So its either broken radio, or broken antenna. As far as i know, everything is done 100% correctly.

So where the SOMD guys at around here...I come over the "Not so Nice" Bridge about 3/4 days a week for work. Unfortunately not typically in the truck as that's my wife's DD and I get to take her Prius on the 57 mile commute (each way) to work.

 

Maybe @Minimag95 could snag those stock skids off you sometime since you both still love me

If you don't already have it, try running a ground from the antenna base to the truck frame.

 

@AR15xAR10 isn't fond of the roads going up to the cabin. But I could bring them down the mountain into Paw Paw. We could meet at the Liberty gas station, their lot is all blacktop.
