And I finally have a place to install my siren now.

 

Remember you loose 3 percent of you engine power per 1000 feet.
Your at 1100 feet? And your crossing the divide in Colorado at 12,000 feet? Or the tunnel at 10,000 feet?
Expect to lose a lot of power tho, 30-35 percent.
3x10=30

 

Nothing like going up the pass to the tunnel in 2nd or 3rd gear

 

I remember when I got my 1st 2.1 pulley 10 years ago and said “Mmmm” too.

When you get to the 2” pulley you will say “WOW”

 

Do you have a bigger crank pulley too?

Ah okay, I know the oversized crank pulleys will drive up the SC speed too, ever thought of shooting for the MP62 theoretical max of 14,000RPM?

 

Im at 16,000 with the 2" pulley

@Sperrunner I'm gonna charge the Z on Monday evening with R12, the manual for the thing says 2.0-2.4lbs of refrigerant. But its a smaller compressor, should I just shoot for the 30-35psi on the suction line and monitor the highs, it's gonna be like 105* out

 

i have been through the Eisenhower tunnel 2 or maybe 3 times, at least once in my truck in '98, i cannot remember if i went through it again or not in 2oo6 when I was around Castle Rock ... it still does not beat the 16 km tunnel i went through twice in the Swiss alps, that just seemed to go on forever!

 

I would follow the service manual. Pressure may look ok but still not cool properly. Best way to charge it taking the subcooling and super heat

 

The service manual only says to charge based on weight which is no longer applicable. I can monitor the subcool and superheat but I don't know what to shoot for since theres no specification, in fact most automotive systems don't monitor that ever because it tends to be skewed from engine bay latent heat transfer

 

Ah, well this is helpful even if they don't cover the relative humidity here, we're only at like 11%.



Either way this is a good baseline, and I should be able to dial it close enough

 

The 2” pulley is definitely a big extra shot of power.
I’ve been running the 2” since I added the methonal kit, so that’s 30-40,000 miles.

 

Curious, who makes oversized crank pulleys for the 3.4

 

Unorthodox Racing used to, doesn't look like they do anymore though, looks like all that's available is URD's lightened pulley which in my opinion is junk. Once you remove the harmonic dampening properties of your crank pulley you're playing with fire and run the risk of ruining your main bearings. Figured since your build dates back so far you might have had the Unorthodox one.

I bet if you whispered some sweet nothings in ATI's ear you could get them to make a Super Damper for the 3.4 though. That I would trust and they can make them to any diameter you want

 

Ok, was just curious, better to be safe where I’m at 16k then push the limit anymore.
I’m pretty happy with its power as a daily driver and I can keep all those 40k - 50k Tacoma’s and Tundras in my rear mirror pretty easily right now.

 

I never realized the high and low pressures vary that much from 8-9° ambient temp changes(can vary over 30 psi from 8 degree ambient temp change. That seems like so much but obviously must be normal
