You will find 2 camps when it comes to CAI. Those that will swear by it and those that will argue (politely and sarcastically) that they are a waste of money.

I have one on my 2nd Gen 4.0L

It sounds cool = this sound puts a grin on my face at times and I feel as if my Taco is super über bad a$§. My Taco is not s racecar so I'm not too concerned about the HP numbers.

    Just my $.02

I put one (TRD) in about three weeks ago, almost zero noticeable difference in noise. Its a fancy (and $$$) looking air filter.

Don’t waste the money. Cold air intakes that are not drawing air directly from outside the vehicle ( cowl induction, shaker unit, ram scoop,etc..) are HOT AIR INTAKES even if they are “sealed” to the hood or fender.

Worst “performance” mod ever, painting your tyres would be better.

With the intake of the snorkel facing forward does that increase the amount of water (whether by rain or other means) entering the air unit?

Not really, you might get a bit more in driving rain, but there is supposed to be a water trap in the system. There are some that remove them though....
