The location of the turbo means they don't get nearly as hot as they would if mounted traditionally.
Intakes go to stock intake and is sealed so you're not going to be ingesting water.
I will test on our development truck though. I do wonder, when going through deep water though do you get water coming in the cabin??

I’m concerned on the topic as well, and wouldn’t even consider the turbo set up for this reason only

Generally if you're crossing deep water that is higher than the bottom of the doors, so long as you keep moving forward most of the water is getting pushed around the doors and keeps it from getting into the cab. Some might come in but it won't be bad. But if you stop or get stuck, then yeah...you're in trouble lol

I’m more concerned about the thermal impact of submerging the hot turbo in water. I mean, it’s still exhaust gasses driving these, they are going to be hot. Between stress on the housing and rapid contraction of the housing I could see some cracking or internal interference issues.

Yep. I have to deal with water crossings on public roads pretty regularly on on my commute. I also spend a fair amount of time in the flood prone areas around Houston at our property there. My truck lives on dielectric grease, WD-40 and Fluid Film.

Well maybe Magnusson will continue to covertly polish their tune and by the 4th gens release we’ll have a nice top of the engine mounted roots blower to stay dry......

I have had mine in some pretty deep spots. Windows up fan on high, AC on recirculate to keep the cowl vent closed and I have not had any water in the cab to date. Physically dunking a hot turbo in cold water is the concern. Cast iron does not like quenching.

Honestly makes me wonder if the 1GR-FE lower intake manifold would swap on to the 2GR-FKS cylinder heads. This would for the most part make a TRD 4.0 SC a bolt on Roots blower. They are both in the GR engine family and the intake runner flange on the cylinder head looks very similar. @OVTune is there any way you could look into the parts compatibility of a 1gr lower intake swap sometime down the road?

@BillDaCat8 has both. Trd charger will not bolt on your 2gr lower intake. He tried

Edit: the bolt holes are very close, but no dice

He’s asking if you can swap the 2GR lower intake for the 1GR lower intake and subsequently bolt the supercharger onto that

I am fully aware of this. The question is if the 1gr lower intake will bolt to the 2gr heads.

Are there plans of a cam package for anyone wanting to stay NA ? I think I read something about that a few months ago on the OVTune website.

Mine got a little wet after doing the Mojave crossing, water was pretty deep and I didn't have a snorkel at the time so I hugged the right side of the crossing to keep my intake up higher, but it dipped my driver door well into the water. Hit a rock or something in the water and nearly flopped my truck over lol. Scared the piss out of me.

I implore you; PLEASE hook up with a local off-road club. The net effect will be more sales, faster and less re-development.

I wanted to do cams but I don't see it as something that sells. Cams will bring more power in the RPM range nobody cares about, 6000+
