Just unthread the nut like three turns, enough so its still on but not tight to the wheel. and bash your hands behind the wheel a time or two, sometimes helps to hit at the top and bottom and wiggle the side a bit. Never had a wheel stick so bad I needed a puller

I wasnt gonna buy it for myself. Resale. Too bad this yard didnt sell airbags, as the one in there wasnt deployed. Come to think of it, I have no clue why the car was in the scrapper in the first place. Was really clean.[/QUOTE]

That's everything in the junkyard in AZ haha, most vehicles here have like a minor dent or something and that's it.

Probably motor or trans problems. Some people will just rid of the whole vehicle even if it's clean

Yeah. The only things worth grabbing were the wheel and the seats, they were in good shape.

Yeah, I'd have left it alone too, the auto wheel isn't very valuable since most IS300s were auto, and the interior pieces aren't hard to come by either. The 2J and computer are nice for someone looking to do a swap but a GE isn't gonna fetch a great sum so unless it was for you it isn't worth pulling either.

When I bought it, I took it to the junkyard and used it on some corroded JIS screws that are notoriously hard to remove. It worked and broke them loose.

I like it because it works with an offset ratcheting set. I have some Hozan JIS drivers that I don't like.

Since I can't read Japanese. No idea what it says. If it's not JIS, that's news to me. I'm been using it like it was for a few years.

So whats the difference between the auto and manual wheels? Paddle shifters that cant be used on our trucks? I know nothing as to why this is a desirable swap...

The manual wheel is cleaner looking, you could wire up the button shifter on an auto truck, but it would cost a lot to get the trans manipulation implemented. The wheel is about 1.5" smaller and is a much nicer design than the Tacoma wheel though, much sportier hand grips and it is three spoke. It's quality leather too. The CC and airbag are plug n play on the 01-04 models as well.

I think all side feeds from the late 80s and 90s use those damn screws.

The design is just unnecessarily over engineered. They use the soft aluminum hold downs with high grade cadmium coated fasteners that have lock washers that bite into that alum and hold forever. Even uncorroded they're a bitch. It could have easily been a twist lock design and been cheaper and easier while being just as secure.
